It was sort of dangled and discussed
That was what Clark said about the VP slot. I find this kind of answer pretty lame. If one is going to state he was offered the VP slot there should be a date, names of attendies, and place attached so it can be checked out.

2. Maybe A Video Tape?

Is this a court room? Why does this bother Dean folks so much. I think it helps Dean - show he has good taste!

Dean wanted Clark for VP. You know Dean was talking to Clark, hoping he wouldn't run for president - by dangling VP.

There is evidence Dean "dangles" - Dean dangled in front of attendees at the Florida Democratic Convention the notion that Graham would be on the ticket. Everyone thought so - even here on DU. Tell me you didn't think that was what Dean was saying. Did Dean ever use the words - I want Graham for VP? Nope.

3. Because
there was no follow up asked, none. I haven't been offered a VP slot but I really think I would remember where, when and who.

5. Does It Matter So Much?

it is really sort of silly to be so defensive about this.

In the great scheme of things, very silly

4. Oh for cryin' out loud!
Clark had said no. For whatever reason, you aren't satisfied with that. You know I would have figured if anything you would be happy enough to know Clark wouldn't be on the ticket.

7. Dean should either admit it or call Clark a liar. . .
. . .I hope he calls Clark a liar, I hope he does.

8. It goes to character. If Dean didn't come out and offer

Clark the second spot on the ticket, then Clark had no business telling George Stephanopoulis that he did. Maybe a little white lie by Clark?

6. It's all useless parsing
Gotchas and spin are the phase we're in now. None seem to understand that the destructive process is easily applied to all candidates/humans.

9. It sounds like the General is "out of ammo."
Perhaps he needs a tactical retreat in order to reorganize his offensive capacity.

Steph asked him a question, Clark answered it. End of story.

Unlike Dean and/or Trippi, who organized a whisper campaign about this very issue right when Clark entered the race.
