Should Democrats clear out of solid red states?
Edited on Fri Nov-05-04 12:06 PM by pengpong
I live in Oklahoma and I'm seriously considering relocating to either New Mexico or possibly Iowa, where my vote would be more useful to the progressive cause. This will not be an easy task as I'm grounded here, have family I do not wish to leave and am close to even more family (and spouse's family) in Texas, and as I'm not exactly wealthy to allow me and my wife to just pick up and move as we see fit. I'm wondering if the Democratic establishment would be interested in organizing to help fund the efforts of folks in my predicament, and help in other ways such as finding employment, residency and whatnot? Just a thought...

On edit: lets pack the swing states and go about kicking thier arses in '06/'08!!!

1. The real task is to get people who don't vote Democrat anymore to vote
with us again.

2. That Is We We Knew Who The Democratic Establishment Is
I can't phathom the frustration you must feel...especially in Oklahmona and honestly I'm torn between encouraging you to stay and fight and or get up and move.

Right now, the lack of any leadership from the Democratic party is very, very alarming. Other than Kerry's concession, I haven't heard a single "official" Democrat reach out to the millions who are so depressed at least to try to salvage something. It's not happening.

4. Certain states,...
such as Oklahoma, are lost causes, but are full of Democrats that could be very useful elsewhere. Certainly, other softer states are worth fighting for.

5. Hell no
While I'm still in my 'get the hell out' angst filled phase, I'm actually considering moving from a blue state to a red state.

Hell, why not go where all the pork is to be sent?

8. It's up to the individual.
I left Miami for San Francisco. The political climate was a factor, but culture, quality of life and distance from Japan (wife's hometown) were bigger factors.

I am glad I could spend this time among people with brains, though...
