For you Clark, Dean, and Edwards supporters in '08
What the hell are they going to do between now and 2008? They won't have microphones because they aren't elected officals and they didn't just run for President. The media will not go to them for interviews. They will go to elected officals. I know they all have their own little groups (I'm a member of wespac even), but I don't think that merits them being able to run in 2008.

1. I Don't Know.. Why Don't You Call Them Up and Ask Them?
Sweet Jeebus...it's the day after the election. Give them a chance to regroup and think about it.

It's going to be a frigging long 4 years and that's just on DU.

5. See, this is why I asked....
I wanted to know why people supported these guys for '08. I figured they follow them and if they supported them for '08 they certainly had a plan for the next election. If they don't, they can either start thinking or move onto another candidate.

2. Two words: Russ Feingold
Edited on Wed Nov-03-04 11:50 PM by RatTerrier
Time for fresh blood. Russ is can't miss.

Political maverick
Fiscal conservative
social liberal
voted against Iraq War and Patriot Act
Runs phenomenal campaigns
Great TV ads mixing facts, humor, compassion, and the cold hard truth
Wellstone disciple
FROM THE MIDWEST!!! (Wisconsin)
Jewish
Just won third term
Held his own against a sleazy well-financed opponent and kicked his ass
Conservatives even like him

Hell, why not Russ Feingold? Arguably the best Senator in the US.

3. If Arkansa has an election for Gov in 2006
I think they ought to get Clark to run for the spot, with a good Lt Gov.

6. For Clark..
his job would be to up his public profile in his home state of Arkansas for the next few years - to play-up his roots there.

Why?

He can make the argument that he has an inside trac to victory via Gore States + NH + AR. We know that other candidates able to flip a Red State to Blue are kinda scarce right now..

7. I agree to a certain extent
We've got a motherload of shit coming down on us the next four years.

No one man or woman, who may run at the end of it (if they dare) is going to fucking save us from that.

Be. Here. Now.

8. Dean does various things.
He does a lot of paid speaking, debates, talks in other countries on corporage gigs or otherwise. He is already set up for debates as far as February of next year.

On the conference call tonight, he said will be in Austin in a couple of weeks, he will be working with candidates for the next set of elections coming up.

He said some other places but the connection was not really clear.

I don't think the party will let Dean run again...he is not warlike, and he signed the civil unions bill....they said that made him unelectable. As to 3rd party, don't know. DFA is coordinating with other groups that think the party has gone too far right.

Don't know about Clark, but in a war loving country he might do well....but not as an anti-war candidate.

Edwards, I love, but the fact that he did not take either SC or NC will hurt him I fear.

It is too far out to guess right now. Lots can happen.

10. Wes Clark had no attention until he declared his intention to run
Aside from his credentials and position on CNN. Wes Clark can STILL run in '08, how about we start pestering him now to declare he will run? If he can make himself VERY visible between now and 2008 then he could have more than a decent shot of winning, do what Al Gore SHOULD have done between 2000 and now.

11. Hey tweed
Edwards can lead the fight against BBV in our nation's courtrooms, making it mandadtory to have paper trails. Other than that, I dunno.

12. Dean has been helping over 1000 Dean supporters get elected
at all levels, from local school boards right on up to federal spots. (I don't know how they did yet, tho.) Can you imagine the political capital of THAT? Do you imagine he's going to be sitting on his haunches from here on out? (I'm sure you've seen MadFloridian's post upthread.) He's got a PARTY to rebuild, and he's been working damn hard at that plus stumping for Kerry.
