bar codes on voting roll sheets - what do they signify?

I just voted in Murray, Utah. I noticed next to everyone's name on the registrar sheets that they had bar codes. Out of sequence bar codes. Now my daughter and I registered to vote at the same time and are listed on the sheets next to each other and our bar codes couldn't be more different. So I came home, waited until 8:00 am and called the County.. Couldn't get any info out of the sec. other than they are randomly assigned and she says they will be scanned later to see if someone voted or not. My voter card holds no bar code nor lists any assigned voter ID number. Since I can't get any info from the County officials, does anyone out there know is their state rolls are the same? I have tried to call the voter numbers nationally offered, but as expected they tell you to call back later when volume is not so high. Any thoughts?
