Trying to make a Kerry-Edwards CD. Any song suggestions
Edited on Mon Nov-01-04 10:58 PM by TheDonkey
Trying to come up with songs to pump me up for tomorrow. Anyone know some good ones and the ones Kerry uses at the rallies?

Right now I have.

Europe- Final Countdown
The Boss- No Surrender
Tom Petty- Won't Back Down
Stevie nix- Tell me Lies (reminds me of bush whores)
U2- Beautiful Day

Need some more! thanks everyone.

Edit: It can also be songs from JE, EE, and THK rallies!
Thanks, some great ideas.

I Dont Want To Miss A Thing Lyrics - Unknown Album

I could stay awake just to hear you breathing
Watch you smile while you are sleeping
While you're far away and dreaming
I could spend my life in this sweet surrender
I could stay lost in this moment forever
Every moment spent with you is a moment I treasure

I don't wanna close my eyes
I don't wanna fall asleep
Cause I'd miss you, baby
And I don't wanna miss a thing
Cause even when I dream of you
The sweetest dream will never do
I'd still miss you, baby
And I don't wanna miss a thing

Lying close to you feeling your heart beating
And I'm wondering what you're dreaming
Wondering if it's me you're seeing
Then I kiss your eyes and thank God we're together
And I just wanna stay with you
In this moment forever, forever and ever

I don't wanna close my eyes
I don't wanna fall asleep
Cause I'd miss you, baby
And I don't wanna miss a thing
Cause even when I dream of you
The sweetest dream will never do
I'd still miss you, baby
And I don't wanna miss a thing

I don't wanna miss one smile
I don't wanna miss one kiss
Well, I just wanna be with you
Right here with you, just like this
I just wanna hold you close
Feel your heart so close to mine
And stay here in this moment
For all the rest of time

Don't wanna close my eyes
Don't wanna fall asleep
Cause I'd miss you, baby
And I don't wanna miss a thing
Cause even when I dream of you
The sweetest dream will never do
Cause I'd still miss you, baby
And I don't wanna miss a thing

I don't wanna close my eyes
I don't wanna fall asleep
Cause I'd miss you, baby
And I don't wanna miss a thing
Cause even when I dream of you
The sweetest dream will never do
I'd still miss you, baby
And I don't wanna miss a thing

Don't wanna close my eyes
Don't wanna fall asleep, yeah
I don't wanna miss a thing

I love that tune as well. What I wondered is what do the Van Halen boys think of Kerry using that song? I saw Sammy Hagars name on the Bush donor list, so I am sure it must burn his ass to hear it at the JK/JE rallies.

22. What they used at the rally for Teresa Heinz Kerry...
"We Are Family"
"You Ain't Seen Nothing Yet"
"It's a Beautiful Day" (also a favorite of Bill Clinton)

I would recommend:

"Talkin' 'bout a Revolution" (Tracy Chapman)
"Time of Inconvenience" (Nanci Griffith)

There's a line in the Nanci Griffith song -- "The right-to-life man has become my enemy" -- that I find really appropriate.

33. Hey I heard a great & Powerful Elvis song on the radio last night..
Its not one usually played cuz it was a request. I didn't recognize it but all I could think of while listening was Bill Clinton and John Kerry and the incredible strength of these men who have fought against the neocon Bush regime for so many years. Their amazing endurance and their grace under fascist attack.

But I dont recall the name of the song.might be something about "dream" in the title...any Elvis fans?
I'll go check out an Elvis hits website and see if its listed somewhere..
cuz if you've never heard this one, you'll think of Kerry/Edwards as soon as you do..Almost made me freakin cry!

I think its called "Follow That Dream". Its an Elvis song I hadn't really heard before..I cannot find anywhere online that will allow me to listen to a sample..

Yes I think it is called "Follow That Dream"
It gave me shivers..related it to John Kerry's fight..way back to Vietnam Vets against the War days..

I think John Kerry's dream from those days is about to unfold before his eyes..tomorrow.

God Bless Him and Keep Him Safe and Strong.

36. Hmm.
"You Raise Me Up," Josh Groban. Still think he should've used this as his campaign song, after Dean showed the power of the people.

"Born in the U.S.A.," The Boss. Applies to him more than any other presidential candidate I can think of.

"Never Gonna Stop (The Red, Red Kroovy)," Rob Zombie. Don't think he could possibly be a Republican, after all.

"Pink Houses," John Mellencamp. Nothing wrong with a song that has a "Boy, you gonna be President" lyric in it.

"America Town," Five for Fighting. "Hail to the chief/Let's just drag 'em all down/There's gotta be a hero somewhere" describes Kerry to me.

"The Last Great American," Five for Fighting. Describes "the last great American" burying himself alive because he can't live in this America anymore - very well describes what Bush has done to America.

"Working Class Hero," John Lennon. Another good "Bush has screwed America up but good" song.

All I can think of now.

Later.

77. MOSH get it here and play our anthem!
My car is plastered with Kerry yard signs, stickers and white shoe polish voting messages on my car windows. I am playing Mosh loudly as I drive slowly, honking my horn, getting thumbs ups, nods, peace signs, honks and waves from our African American democratic base voters and the white Kerry supporters. It was an incredible we're all part of something big type of morale booster. And the song is so militantly empowering it is a rush to f*** with the freepers as they witness the solidarity of Kerry supporters. We are a diverse party and we got each other's backs.

You can download the mp3 here:

http://www.stimulate-ltd.com/audio/singles/eminem-mosh -...

I used CDex to convert the mp3 to a WAV and then burned CDS. I gave away 58 copies. I'm also wearing my black hoodie with VOTE in duct tape on the back.

All the people up top, on the side and the middle
Come together, let's all form this swamp just a little
Just let it gradually build, from the front to the back
All you can see is a sea of people, some white and some black
No matter what color, all that matters we're gathered together
To celebrate for the same cause, no matter the weather
If it rains, let it rain
Yeah, the wetter the better
They ain’t gon’ stop us - they can't
We're stronger now, more then ever
They tell us "No", we say "Yeah"
They tell us "Stop", we say "Go"
Rebel with a rebel yell
Raise hell - we gon’ let em know
Stomp, push, shove, mush..
Fuck Bush
Until they bring our troops home, c'mon, just..

Come along, follow me as I lead through the darkness
As I provide just enough spark that we need to proceed
Carry on, give me hope, give me strength
Come with me, and I wont steer you wrong
Put your faith in your trust, as I guide us through the fog
To the light at the end of the tunnel we gon’ fight
We gon’ charge, we gon’ stomp
We gon' march through the swamp
We gon' mosh through the marsh
Take us right through the doors
Come on..

Imagine it pourin’, it's rainin’ down on us
Moshpits outside the oval office
Someone’s tryin to tell us something
Maybe this is God just sayin' we're responsible
For this monster - this coward that we have empowered
This is Bin Laden
Look at his head noddin’
How could we allow something like this without pumpin' our fists
Now, this is our final hour
Let me be the voice, and your strength and your choice
Let me simplify the rhyme just to amplify the noise
Try to amplify it, times it, and multiply it by sixteen million
People are equal at this high pitch
Maybe we can reach al CIAda through my speech
Let the president answer our high anarchy
Strap him with a AK-47, let him go fight his own war
Let him impress daddy that way
No more blood for oil, we got our own battles to fight on our own soil
No more psychological warfare to trick us to thinking that we ain’t loyal
If we don’t serve our own country, we’re patronizing our hero
Look in his eyes, its all lies
The stars and stripes, have been swiped
Washed out and wiped and replaced with his own face
Mosh now or die
If I get sniped tonight, you’ll know why
‘Cuz I told you to fight

Someday soon, someday soon.
Seasons were made for the change.
You will be there.
Just like the night to the day without a care.
The dark goes before the dawn.
Open up your eyes.

Someday soon
Ooo, there’ll be a better day.
And someday soon,
Yes, it’s not too far away.

Someday soon
Oo yeah, with open skies,
And someday soon.
All we can do is try.

The coloudest day comes around,
You will be there.
All of the feelin’s you’ve found, without a care.
So my friends, you take a look.
Don’t you look too far.

Someday soon
Oo yeah, with open skies,
And someday soon.
All we can do is try.

43. Democracy - Leonard Cohen
Leonard Cohen - Democracy Lyrics

It's coming through a hole in the air,
from those nights in Tiananmen Square.
It's coming from the feel
that this ain't exactly real,
or it's real, but it ain't exactly there.
From the wars against disorder,
from the sirens night and day,
from the fires of the homeless,
from the ashes of the gay:
Democracy is coming to the U.S.A.
It's coming through a crack in the wall;
on a visionary flood of alcohol;
from the staggering account
of the Sermon on the Mount
which I don't pretend to understand at all.
It's coming from the silence
on the dock of the bay,
from the brave, the bold, the battered
heart of Chevrolet:
Democracy is coming to the U.S.A.

It's coming from the sorrow in the street,
the holy places where the races meet;
from the homicidal bitchin'
that goes down in every kitchen
to determine who will serve and who will eat.
From the wells of disappointment
where the women kneel to pray
for the grace of God in the desert here
and the desert far away:
Democracy is coming to the U.S.A.

Sail on, sail on
O mighty Ship of State!
To the Shores of Need
Past the Reefs of Greed
Through the Squalls of Hate
Sail on, sail on, sail on, sail on.

It's coming to America first,
the cradle of the best and of the worst.
It's here they got the range
and the machinery for change
and it's here they got the spiritual thirst.
It's here the family's broken
and it's here the lonely say
that the heart has got to open
in a fundamental way:
Democracy is coming to the U.S.A.

It's coming from the women and the men.
O baby, we'll be making love again.
We'll be going down so deep
the river's going to weep,
and the mountain's going to shout Amen!
It's coming like the tidal flood
beneath the lunar sway,
imperial, mysterious,
in amorous array:
Democracy is coming to the U.S.A.

Sail on, sail on ...

I'm sentimental, if you know what I mean
I love the country but I can't stand the scene.
And I'm neither left or right
I'm just staying home tonight,
getting lost in that hopeless little screen.
But I'm stubborn as those garbage bags
that Time cannot decay,
I'm junk but I'm still holding up
this little wild bouquet:
Democracy is coming to the U.S.A.

As a gesture to his friend John Lennon, and because the words are so powerful.

Little darlin', it feels like years since it's been clear
Here comes the sun
Here comes the sun
And I say, it's all right!!

For whatever reason, that song reminds me of the Kerry edwards campaign.

75. Small Town - John Cougar Mellencamp
This was Edwards' campaign song. It's a beautiful song about American values and the American dream, which is personified by our Vice President-Elect.

I'm from a big city, but I get teared up hearing Small town.

76. Born in the USA
Edited on Tue Nov-02-04 02:02 PM by MissMarple
Born down in a dead man's town
The first kick I took was when I hit the ground
You end up like a dog that's been beat too much
Till you spend half your life just covering up

Born in the U.S.A.
I was born in the U.S.A.
I was born in the U.S.A.
Born in the U.S.A.

Got in a little hometown jam
So they put a rifle in my hand
Sent me off to a foreign land
To go and kill the yellow man

Born in the U.S.A.
I was born in the U.S.A.
I was born in the U.S.A.
I was born in the U.S.A.
Born in the U.S.A.

Come back home to the refinery
Hiring man says "Son if it was up to me"
Went down to see my V.A. man
He said "Son, don't you understand"

I had a brother at Khe Sahn fighting off the Viet Cong
They're still there, he's all gone

He had a woman he loved in Saigon
I got a picture of him in her arms now

Down in the shadow of the penitentiary
Out by the gas fires of the refinery
I'm ten years burning down the road
Nowhere to run ain't got nowhere to go

Born in the U.S.A.
I was born in the U.S.A.
Born in the U.S.A.
I'm a long gone Daddy in the U.S.A.
Born in the U.S.A.
Born in the U.S.A.
Born in the U.S.A.
I'm a cool rocking Daddy in the U.S.A.
