Can't sleep, nervously nauseated all of the time...
My father, may he rest in peace (who would be so outraged by what ahs been going on for 4 years), told me years ago that there would be a time in my life when I would face the threat of totalitarianism via fascism in this country. He pointed to the McCarthy era as a tuneup for what was to come later and that the establishment had learned much from their logistical mistakes in the early 50's. That they would couple the propaganda machines of the Commies and the Nazis and the Maciavellian principles and come at the people full blast.

The time has come - we are faced with a moment in history which Asimov in the Foundatin Trilogy termed the "Crisis". How we proceed will determine whether the political dark ages will last a few years...or forever, as far as our lifetimes are concerned. This is it...make no mistake. We are at the crossroads of history.

I drink Vodka Gimlets and my wife just bought a half dozen limes and said to me that she thought I might be needing these.

3. Yeah.
Takes the edge off. I plan to spend Monday through VA-Day completely blitzed, just so I don't chew my nails down to the knuckle.

But it sure as hell won't get me through a second Bush administration.

4. Alcohol, while temporarily useful,
won't help us live through bushworld. We're going to need all our brain cells and functioning livers.
However, I plan on lifting a good few glasses myself over the next few days.
Cheers!

5. *SLAP*
If you're a Democrat and you notice your fellow Democrats dipping into these spasms of fecklessness and weak-kneedism, as I've described above, I strongly encourage you to slap them around a few times and tell them to get a hold of themselves. If you're experiencing such spasms, by all means, slap yourself a few times and tell yourself the same thing.

At every turn, toughness and fight has been the subtext of this election. Who has it and who doesn't.

7. I remember reading a rant from the daughter/son of an exCIA
What they said is matching up to what we're seeing on a global level (especially with outsourcing) It's been so long that I know I won't remember all the critical bits, but what they said was that the forces that drive our country aren't all homegrown and that even through elections it will be impossible to go against them. They said they would make it impossible for even the congress to turn back their agenda. The dad said to watch carefully to see what names keep cropping up and you might be able to identify some of the foot soldiers.

From what he described I always got the feeling that he was talking about the Bush-Baker-Carlyle (sp?)Group.

If this is true, then getting Kerry into office may be the easy part.

8. I pounded a few back earlier...
But it's early morning now, and it's all wearing off. I'm left with a growing hangover and nothing but my hopes for Tuesday. I've got to agree that if we don't pull it off, it's going to take more than alcohol to get us through the next 4 years, unless we plan to exterminate the remaining intelligent people in America via alcohol poisoning and liver failure.

It's Kerry or a whole lot of booze. Another Bush term cannot be tolerated sober.

10. I got it. My whole family has PEAD
I was driving home the other day and there were all these cars without bumper stickers, driven by people who looked like, although they might well be voting, they could think about other things. Probably a lot of them feel that life will go on no matter who wins. I was almost jealous. I haven't had a decent night's sleep in weeks. I'm sick to my stomach as I type this. We all go up and down in our moods. We don't even know exactly how we'll cope emotionally if the cabal steals this one.

It's not only that this is the worst president ever. It's also that John Kerry is one of the very best we've got and we need our best so badly right now.

11. There is no question that there are
forces afoot greater than the obvious ones.

President Eisenhower alluded tho these in his farewell speech and there is little doubt that this is a global situation/conspiracy. They are cotent to allow us our peccadillos like these internet boards and publishing houses but woe betide you if you really get out of line and becme disruptive in a global fashion. Never forget the group in the film Eyes Wide Shut. You mess with powers which be at your own peril.

12. scary times...
PEAD...never heard of it, but I bet a lot of us have it.

Sometimes it feels surreal, like being in a fog. The way I deal with it is to take a break from all of it, and step away from the computer or TV, and just *breathe*.

13. Your father is correct - the nausea you feel is the fight
in your belly - use it - there is a saying "if it doesn't kill you, it will make you stronger".
