***ATTENTION DU: Instead of freaking out about the Bin Laden tape***

control the spin. This has the ability to hurt either candidate, and so far it looks like the Repugs are winning the spin game. Here's why.

Psychologically, Bin Laden is a reminder of the fear Americans faced after 9/11. Americans were conditioned to trust Bush when they had this fear. When this fear is brought up, Americans will psychologically go running back to Bush for comfort.

On the other hand, if this can be tied to Bush's incompitence in Iraq and Afghanistan, people could see him as weak and aloof. In this way, it will benefit Kerry. it will validate what Kerry ahs been saying all along.

We need to make this like after the debates!!! Write and call media stations. Write LTTEs for Sunday's paper!! With the ammount of threads of people freaking out around here, we could have been controlling the spin already!! Go to it, KICK this thread, and stop complaining!!!

There is always a cycle to this kind of story, an ebb and flow. At first, it might seem to help bush, but we're still four days out from the election, and that's plenty of time to wait out the initial panicked reactions and, with a steady hand, guide the conversation our way.

Don't give up on our side of this story, because when the media tires of the initial conventional wisdom, they will (provided we keep reminding them) begin to think and say "gosh, what's obl still doing around anyway? Would he have been alive to release that tape if bush hadn't diverted all of our attention to iraq?"

I want this win more than anyone, but I could give a flying frig what Osama Bin Laden thinks about who I should vote for or figuring out how his demented mind's psychology and reverse psychology and reverse reverse psychology work.

It made me pissed to see him on my tv screen, I blame Bush...but I feel ill with the spin on both sides. Why would any decent American let a single word out of Bin Laden's mouth effect them. This is the point where I say enough is enough on trying to influence the spin, it is just too much.
