The media is trying to give the election to Bush
You heard the script tonight: Osama is Bush's enemy, not the enemy of the American people. 9/11. Boo! Terror. 9/11. Bush strong.

Dem Strategist was right--the media is the enemy. Time to take it to them.

Some people will be frantic and wring their hands over this. We should all contact everyone we know by email TONIGHT before anyone gets too crazy and demoralized. Ive already gotten 5 emails from people freaking that * is gonna win.

3. How are the Media our enemy?
Do you mean it the same way Rush Limbaugh means it (no offense), which is anything they could possibly do they will do to get Bush Elected because they hate the people and teh Democrats so much?

Or do you mean that they have certain tendancies which go unexamined. They are lazy, and although often liberal on social issues, they are more often than not conservative on economic issues?

Just out of curiousity.

4. the media is independent - they just act like they are RW GOP controlled?

"liberal on social issues, they are more often than not conservative on economic issues" defined many here at DU - AND THAT IS NOT WHAT WE ARE TALKING ABOUT.

Those in the media refuse to challenge obvious GOP lies, read Rove PR releases as if news, and bury good Den news "because folks aren't interested "- or The GOP has an answer which no matter how far fetched is equated as of equal value as the actual pro-Dem news.

8. No i'm not.
They are generally ahead of the curve on social issues.

Maybe not local news, but generally. And I'm not talking about FOX here.

and reporters LOSE THEIR JOBS if they defy editorial management and are trying to keep their jobs no matter how liberal the reporters are personally.

It helps that the major figures in the media (Russert, Brokaw, Blitzer) are conservative footsoldiers who use all their cunning and power to cut the other side down and aggrandize the Shrub. That's all.

Good things for Kerry slip out sometimes, but in general, the media is in business to help Republican corporations get richer, and that means helping other Republicans, not Democrats who will regulate the media (i.e., stop them from committing crimes and being unfair) and possibly cut profits, It's that simple.

15. Reporters in general
I'm a videographer and I've videoed interviews for CNN, MSNBC, Fox News, CNBC, etc. and I can tell you all the reporters are idiots. My opinion of them is that they are lazy and just ask the most obvious questions and really aren't interested in asking questions or getting answers of any substance. Sound bite BS to fill a hole in a program. What was interesting to me one time was an interview with a retired admiral that was going to be a guest, live, on one of the prime time cable news programs. We were discussing off camera the at that time, the soon to begin invasion of Iraq. He was gung-ho off camera and I said to him what was the problem with working longer with the UN? He didn't have an answer for me, just the same old crap...SH was a threat to the US.... BS. This was an admiral that had been the flag officer, a commander of a carrier task force. I asked him how can he(SH), be a threat to the US when he doesn't have any weapons capable of delivering WMD's to the US even if he has them? He again, didn't have an answer for me. News has become entertainment and because of that, it has lost all relevance as a means to get a true perspective on events. Sound bites being spoon fed to a lazy populace that can't be bothered with the need to find more facts beyond the 20 second sound bite. There is a big difference between watching the news and becoming an informed citizen. If you will notice, most interviewers never ask a question that would require a direct and concise reply. Mostly they never ask questions to validate anything. They post questions that can be asked of you, me, a 10 year old, a vice pResident. Anyone's answer could be appropriate. Opinion questions with opinion replies. The television press medium is broken and would take a long time to fix if it ever could be. Just my "opinion".
Just a question.....why can't there be a cable tv channel like Air America? That would be so fantastic.
