3. Yes - I think we'll take OK, IL - and keep all the rest, but NC will be...
very close.

4. Colorado
Ken Salazar should be able to win this seat. The Zogby poll has him up by 10 over Coors.

9. I'm from Illinois (pretty solid blue) . . . . .
. . .even though my man Barak says there is no red or blue, black or white, etc. We WILL be sending a liberal Democrat to the Senate this year (and sending a certain big-mouthed reprobate back to Maryland). That means Illinois will have two EXCELLENT senators in Washington.

10. I'm in KY
And it looks like Mongiardo (D) might just be able to beat Bunning (R), as they're now roughly even.

However, as a last minute "charge", the Bunning side is insinuating that Mongiardo is gay.

Yes, you read that right.

That's how desperate the Bunning campaign is at this stage--that means Mongiardo must be ahead in their internal polls.

12. Hi fellow Kentuckian! Welcome to DU
Yeah, Bunning is getting rather desperate and pathetic now isn't he? That has to be one of the worst run campaigns in history.

I've been saying it for weeks now, Mongiardo will be a surprise win!

17. Not only that...
He's been a lousy, do-nothing far-right Senator prone to gaffes of immense magnitude. He does *nothing* for Kentucky. He's simply an embarrassment.

13. I'm confident about all the seats except the Southern ones.
People are saying in other threads that Tennenbaum, Castor, Bowles and whoever we've got in Louisiana are slipping behind. I don't know, I doubt we'll get a net loss, but winning it back definitavely looks difficult.

16. There are three Dem candidates in LA against one GOP candidate.
Edited on Fri Oct-29-04 12:58 AM by elperromagico
In the latest poll I've seen, the Republican (Vitter) has 49%, while his three Dem opponents have a combined total of 38%. But if Vitter doesn't cross that 50% mark on Election Day, he'll have to face off against his nearest opponent (probably John) in December.

In the past, the Democratic Senate candidate has always won a runoff in Louisiana.

As for the other Southern seats...

GA is as good as gone. Of course, as it already belonged to a Republican (I don't care what he calls himself - Zell is a Repuke), it's only a loss statistically speaking.

NC is going to be a tough one. Burr has been performing better in polls.

SC was a tough race before. It's still a tough race now. Likely switchover.

And FL might be a win for us, unless all the votes Jeb is in the process of stealing were for both Kerry and Betty Castor (a rather likely scenario).

14. Seems possible, especially if Kerry wins in a landslide
I suspect Mr. Kerry's coattails will be quite sizeable.

18. It's possible, although it's an uphill battle
We're definitely going to lose Georgia and pick up Illinois. Everything else is a tossup, although there are some disturbingly close races (like Daschle's). Most polls project us a few seats behind, but who knows.
