Pentagon's explanation ! That Dog won't hunt !
Think about this. We were told Iraq had WMD's. True these were explosives and not WMD's but Rumsfield said he knew where everything was. Pentagon said that these explosives were moved before our soldiers were there to protect them. That is downright laughable. One way in and one way out ! Don't think so ! Special Forces should have been sent in to guard what David Kay who was just on TV said that they knew was a huge Explosive factory there . This is the poorest of planning and just shores up the fact we were mislead and of all things not to protect would be caches of weapons.
Now Gore said before the war started that the terrorists could just step right in and take Weapons, explosives, etc after we sent the region in Chaos, which is exactly what happened.

There is no way the penatagon and Bush can spin this as explosives moved when their own man David Kay says he believes it was not inconceivable to have trucks move them out all during the time we are over there fighting. The Factory should have been the first thing secured. No we were too busy protecting the oil fields.
This is ridiculous and anybody who believes Bush on this nonsense knows nothing about combat or war. No planning and what is worse we have been in Baghdad longer than a year and they have been missing for a year and we are just now hearing about it. Whats with that?
Sorry George....That dog just won't hunt ! Had you fulfilled Guard duty, you may have learned a thing or too about real soldiering and enough troops on the ground. You would have at least learned how to listen to Generals warning of poor planning.

3. Generals' responsibility
In the military code, etc., just what is a General's written responsibility to the troops? At what point can a General be court-marshalled for failing to execute a war plan with the safety of the troops as the priority? This has pissed me off no end since day one of this war. How do they justify protecting oil fields and not munitions dumps? Anybody who went to iaea.org knew they were there. They've got MAPS, reports, everything.

5. Questions, questions, questions
Like

Did the military commanders have lists of sites where weapons, explosives and possible WMDs were suspected?

Did they have the information from IAEA?

Did the first soldiers on the site inspect the facility? Did they report anything to the chain of command regarding the site?

Why didn't they leave a "detail" behind to guard the site?

Why didn't headquarters follow up immediately to secure this site and the 60+ others that were known to have these materials (per David Kay) and suspected of having WMDs?

This is gross incompetence.......from Rummy to the field commanders for sure and maybe, if it's true that Dubya personally reviewed the war plan 20-something times, it's right at his feet also.

Also, as Wes Clark said yesterday, if the ship runs aground, it's the Captains responsibility whether he was on the bridge or not.
