Regarding Bush's lead in the polls on who would fight terror better
The Republicans like to cite the polls that show the public has more trust in Bush than Kerry when it comes to fighting the war on terror.

Bush's lead in that regard is anywhere from 10 to 20 points, depending on the poll.

But what people should be saying is "Why isn't the public's trust much greater than that?"

Bush is an incumbent president and commander in chief fighting a war. If he was even doing a half-ass job, he should be kicking Kerry's ass on this question. The American people always give a large benefit of the doubt to an incumbent president. But that isn't happening now.

Bush's lead on this question should be 40 or 50 points. The fact that it is much lower shows how pathetic Bush's leadership has been.
