On Terrorism is it time for Kerry to state the obvious?
Every poll shows Kerry leading on issue after issue except for one issue--terrorism. Bush has, so far, kept his head above water, by scaring the hell out of people. So, as we enter the last ten days of this campaign, should Kerry begin to state the obvious? "Mr. President, unless you forgot, 9/11 happened on your watch."

6. Sure
Because it'll cost him the election. It would be like Dewey blaming Roosevelt for Pearl Harbor in his 1944 run against FDR.

Sure, it's true, but it would just be too messy of a statement to make going into the final week of a seemingly tight race.

3. I think something similar will be played
I don't think he'll come out and say it so directly, but this general idea will be conveyed.

7. I would think so.
Given the parallels between his "do nothing" attitude on terrorism and Al Qaeda prior to 9/11 and the flu vaccine f'up, I'd think it wouldn't be tough to easily convey a theme.

5. if they feel they can deal with the media in the short time before
elections. you know when/if he said that rather than just reporting it as it is the media will distort it and start acting as if Kerry said Bush caused the attacks or some other crap rather than dealing with the issue as it should be.

the whole media "meme" would be about how Kerry said somethign so outrageous. kind of like the teresa thing or the mary cheney thing. and the republicans will be on every show playing victim claiming kerry blames bush instead of terrorists.

so, they need to be prepared for this.

8. Yes, that's the danger.
You can't rely on the media to report it honestly.

10. the sad thing is that it should be the media themselves who ask this
Edited on Thu Oct-21-04 11:06 PM by JI7
question anytime bush cheney or anyone else tries to say if kerry is elected there will be a terrorist attack.

but instead they are too busy going after Teresa for every little thing she says, and even then they distort what she said and take it out of context.

12. I think it's time for him to go positive
about his vision for the country and how he, John Kerry, will take us to a better place vs. wasting time talking about his opponent. My guess is the undecided/swing voters are looking for leadership qualities at this point and if so, Kerry needs to get above the fray and act and look Presidential.
