Edwards Accuses Bush of Exploiting 9/11: AP (Well it's about .. time)
Edited on Mon Oct-18-04 11:34 AM by mzmolly
Removed fake profanity.

I would have liked to start hitting this message during the R convention - over and over again. But, hey now's a great time too!

http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/ap/20041018/ap_on_el_pr/edwards&cid=694&ncid=2043

Edwards, speaking at a seaside park in this battleground state, argued that Bush "claims steady leadership but offers a steady stream of failure." He assailed him for failing to capture the mastermind of the attacks, Osama bin Laden.

"He will fail in the war against terrorism because he does not know how to lead," Edwards said of Bush.

Edwards charged: "George Bush is playing on people's deepest fears. He's exploiting a national tragedy for personal gain — and it's the lowest kind of politics.

"You don't win the war on terror by giving a speech. You win the war on terror based on what you do. And the facts show, the facts show that we haven't done all that we can to keep the American people safe and crush the terrorists before they can do harm to us. George Bush's failed actions speak much louder than his words.

1. I disagree with the "Well it's about *!#@ time"
Why use your best stuff 10 months before the election? Americans will hardly remember the debates by the time they vote.

8. I love Edwards, I just think they missed an opportunity during the
convention. We needed to hit THIS MESSAGE HARD, and we didn't.

5. It should have been used immediately after the convention.

It could have prevented the bounce in the first place.

I think we'd be in a better position, and as many Americans wouldn't have fallen as hard for the Daddy the protector image in Bush.

But, yer free to disagree.

3. WTH?
From the article, "John Edwards told paralyzed people last week that they would be able to walk again if they voted for John Kerry." :wtf: is this crap from a bush* spokesperson?

4. This is the perfect day to come out hard with this
After Bush's speech maybe, MAYBE this will be included in the conversation. Everyone knows it's true but it gets shoved out of heads when he starts saying boo! about terrorism.

Edwards was just shrill enough to get the point noticed on just the right day.

7. Today is the perfect day and I agree that he said it in a manner
that couldn't be ignored.

Though, I'd have liked them to say it in such a manner during the R convention (911 exploitation extravaganza) that it was. :hi:
