Just thinking out loud about polling..
..and something that must also factor in...educators generally support Democrats (NEA, AFT, etc.). I suspect teachers are less likely to get polled because most have unlisted numbers, especially middle and high school educators. In my school, 2 teachers out of 33 have listed numbers. Now, I'm a newbie to all of this, I realize, so please correct me if I'm wrong, but unlisted means no polling, right?

If I sound stupid, I apologize in advance..I'm learning..:)

1. Wrong.

Polling places use random dialers, so unlisted numbers get called just as much as listeds.

But you don't sound stupid :)

Ok..shoot,well, thanks for clarifying..I hadn't been polled..so wondered...

We have this thing in TX, too...that stops callers who don't identify themselves, etc...and many of us don't even get to the call if it's automated, etc. because it is refused.

6. it is illegal to call cell phones for polling purposes
The random dialers filter out any 3-digit prefixes that belong to cell phone companies.

4. They account for that. The problem is that the polling firms have to make
a guess about who will show up to vote. Among the most likely voters who are paying attention to this race, there are more Republicans than Democrats. That's why all the samples have more Republicans than Democrats.

Nobody knows how many Democrats will show up.

That's why phone banking and precinct walking the next two weekends is SO important.
