I say that we are not going to carry CO. Prove me wrong.
The first shred of evidence would be that I live in Colorado Springs, and I don't get to travel that widely around the state. Anybody got some news or information to prove my prediction wrong?

1. I can prove you right.
Colorado is way too heavy. And where would you put it?

3. Of course not
Colorado is Bush country.

A question for you:

Hasn't it been the case that Colorado has become more conservative over the past 10 years or so? What's the impression of Colorado DUers?

19. It got more "conservative" in the early nineties, but I think that
has worn off now. The economy has been so very bad here that many people are disgusted with Chimpy and his administration.

And then there's the Iraq War...

Colorado has a huge number of independent voters. My guess is that most of them will vote for Kerry.

5. If I may make a humble suggestion...
Get in your car. Get on 25 and start driving north. There's a whole "nother" world out there.

I've always been under that impression.

8. Oh, CS is most definately not the place to be.
I really don't like it there. All the bad things you've heard are true. As for driving north on I-25, I do that sometimes. I've always said "Denver is the town I should have been born in".

11. No, I'm only 17.
I go to the University of Toronto right now, though. And if my plans all work out I'll probably live in and around DC after I graduate.

16. Oh--I suggested driving north so you could notice the
bumper stickers in Denver and parts north.

I live in between Denver and Boulder. The Kerry/Edwards stickers outnumber the Bush*/Cheney ones at least seven to one.

There is exactly ONE Bush*/Cheney sign in my subdivision. It's tacked to a fence. All of the other signs are Dem signs.

So while this doesn't guarantee that Colorado will go for Kerry, I'd say the indication is that things are at least very close! I've seen the same kind of thing up in Ft. Collins--Kerry stickers outnumber Bush* stickers by a huge margin.

We have a lot of independents in this state, and they're not very happy.

7. PROPORTIONAL ELECTORAL VOTES!
It's on the ballot, and likely to pass. This way, Kerry doesn't need to carry Colorado to get at least 4 of its electoral votes.

14. Here in Denver. . .
Here in Denver, I ride my bicycle an hour a day. And I keep a daily tally of bumper stickers and street signs.

It's consistently in the nature of 70 or 80 for Kerry, to one or two for Bush.

Kerry will sweep Denver and Boulder and Vail and Aspen, Bush will take Colorado Springs; in terms of cities, Kerry will be vastly ahead. The smaller towns will lean towards Bush -- but I don't know how heavily.

15. Race2004 CO Polling results link
Colorado
9 electoral votes

Undecided

Projected Vote
Bush wins the popular vote with 935,717 votes (49.77%). Kerry places second with 903,905 votes (48.08%).

The Nader Factor - Nader will appear on the election ballot.

If the election were held today... Bush wins
In 2000... George Bush won this state.

If Colorado ballot initiative #36 passes, 4 electoral votes switch from Bush to Kerry. The new total is 288 for Kerry, 250 for Bush.

17. Colorado's demographics have changed a lot in the past 10 years . . .
Lots of influx from California. Sure, we're a ways from being a blue state, but, it will happen, I'm sure. I'm in Boulder county & the Kerry-to-Bush yard sign & bumper sticker ratio is easy 15-1. In my own cul-de-sac of 6 houses there are 3 Kerry signs.

Also, I had to go to my bosses house the other day. He lives in a very rich part of Boulder & there are Kerry signs out the wazoo in his neighborhood. I don't think these guys care so much about tax cuts as they do having a religious zealot in the white house. Just MHO.

18. Another Colorado Springs resident checks in
I've been seeing more Kerry stickers around town but, here in the Springs, it's Bush country and it really sucks most days! I think being stuck here too long will give you the sense that Bush has a commanding lead but in other parts of the state like Denver and Boulder it's a whole other world! We "Springs" people need to get a reality check every now and then.

It's VERY close here and it could go either way. The proposition 36 vote will be so very interesting and messy. If the race is very close and it comes down to Colorado's splitting the electoral vote, there will be litigation, on both sides. This is shaping up to get pretty ugly.

23. I live near Colorado College. Very few Bush signs here.
When I drive downtown I always see far more Kerry/Edwards bumper stickers than for the other guys. One thing, though, there are more Merrifield and Salazar yard signs than Kerry/Edwards. But there are almost none for George. I think the Republicans around this neighborhood are either voting for Kerry or embarrassed to be known to support George. But, this is a mixed neighborhood and the Republicans who support George are worried about security. Why they think he can protect us after just making the entire world more dangerous, I have no idea. The only thing I can think is remotely a reason is missile defense. Now, how stupid is that? Missile defense at best is like the Maginot Line.

21. I have proof you're right, DU style.
My dad's cousin saw 16 Bush bumper stickers at Wal-Mart and then I talked to my sister's brother-in-law's great auntie who used to be a democrat but says she's voting for bush. Plus gallup has Bush up 85%-4% with Nader at 194% in CO.

25. Salazar. The Salazar brothers are both running.
John for Congress, and Ken for Senate. They are really stand up people. They are from a big Catholic family and grew up on a ranch that has been in their family since the 1850's. They didn't even have electricity until the early 1980's. They have the solid family values that the Bushes can only parody. I talked a lady into voting for Ken, he's the real deal.

i didn't know there were two of them. actually i don't know anything about them. i am glad to hear i am rootin for good guys. my beef

i am pissed at coor. i am pissed at the advertisement he puts out on Saturday and Sunday afternoon, during the football games my husband watch, for my children to watch. i am pissed that catering to the young men, creating women as sluts to meet their adolescent sexuality at the expense of my children. and then to suggest that he has a greater family value than his opponent. i went on a emailing campaign when he went to far on one of his boob twin commercials that was no more than soft porn in the middle of the afternoon in a football game

i want this man to lose, and big
