1. McCain has been all over campaigning with W last week
but Cheney hasn't been seen much since the debate?

Maybe this is their October surprise to through the election into turmoil? Trying to change the ticket, now that many people have voted in early elections, would shut down the election in many places because the laws are so ambiguous.

2. that would really freak the freepers out - they secretly
think McCain is a nut job. I seriously had a freeper tell me that he thinks something happened to McCain in Nam and that he's screwy. The freepers honor their soldiers, BTW, as long as their names are Kerry or McCain.

:hi:

4. Would it be legal to do? What about donations?
If cheney died would it be allowed? I'm just interested in the legalities involved.

7. They could always start a rumor about his wife
She's got short spiky hair, doesn't she? And Freeps never met a stereotype they didn't like.

6. Don't put it past Cheney to fake it. "The campaign stress was much
more than I expected."

8. At One Point I Dreaded This
I thought for sure if Bush named McCain all those independents and soft Kerry supporters would swing to his camp. And Cheney could resign for health reasons, nothing unconstitutional about that.

But, now it is so close to the election that I think if this does happen, it will be seen as too obviously political. This could cause it to backfire. Of course, I wouldn't put anything past them.

I thought I heard somewhere that McCain's daughter is angry at him for supporting Kerry. And one of McCain's senior staffers is supposedly supporting Kerry. Although if the latter is true I don't see how he gets to keep his job.

11. It's too late
Early voting has begun. Absentee voting. The ballots have been printed. That's why Ashcroft lost to a dead man back in Missouri -- the election was underway when Carnahan died. A replacement could not be made, legally. Not that they needed one since Ashcroft lost to Carnahan even after his death! (That will never fail to crack me up about Ashcroft.)

Cheney is 'it' for the Republicans, whether they like it or not. They waited too long to legally make a switch. People have voted.
