Let's donate and volunteer to help Get Out The Vote!

It's critical now that organizations supporting the Kerry campaign have enough volunteers and money to help get out the vote. The more the better.

Here's one link, this is for the America Coming Together GOTV Fund:

<https://secure.acthere.com/modules/contribution/contribute.php?b=gotv>

Feel free to add more links.

Let's stop worrying about polls, let's get moving and win this election!

1. I agree
Turnout is everything.

Here's another place to send some money -- the same place Al Franken has been suggesting:

2. mcg, I agree with you. This is no time to become complacent.
The road we travel has a few less bumps, but we cannot quit until the end.
I appreciate the Cheney's phony outrage story has to play itself out but there was a real gaffe at the debate, a HUGE gaffe and that is what we need to focus our attention on today any every single day until November 2nd.

Dailykos Diary:

DUers-We need to get media off Mary and onto *'s lie about OBL.
This was a diary entry that got recommended, much like we do here.
It has many suggestions on how to get media interested in this.
Many of the comments also have suggestions, a CNN pol, rating the Yahoo story high to keep it front and center, etc.

C'mon everybody, lets do this! Are you with me?

5. Not if enough moderate repubs vote for Kerry.
My post suggests ways to get that to happen. Are you in?

6. Totally in!
How could I help people in other states provide transportation to voters on election day? Is the best way to do that to donate money? Or is there a way I could contact actual persons that are part of the volunteer community in a state that may have folks that need rides?

Any suggestions on this?

Thanks!

that I wish I lived in a red state. If you are able to travel, use the link provided in the original message, then click on the 'Volunteer' link at the top of that page.
I'm trying to rework my schedule to go to Arizona to help out.

edit: The first thing you need to do is vote early. Use the absentee ballot form on the back of your voting guide. My husband and I are doing it Monday. (California counts absentee ballots the day before the election) That allows us the freedom to be elsewhere on election day.

8. Great suggestion! I'll get on that Monday...and
thank you!

I don't want to live in a red state, as I would probably spend even more time of my life pissed off than I do now. LOL!

If you don't mind sharing, where are you in California? I was beginning to think that maybe the numbers of us were dwindling here in California...

9. I live behind the Orange Curtain LOL!
I do sometimes hesitate to acknowledge it. The last time I did one post called it disgusting. Oh well.
Things are changing here, though. Our house has not been egged (yet?) as another neighbor's house was in 1996 (clinton/Gore).
The Kerry rally on October 9th was a disappointment, only about 100 showed up, but the fact that we had one shows a lot of progress.

10. Poor baby! LOL!
The Orange Curtain reference always makes me laugh. I recall a time when it was tough to even go to Disneyland. It was so conservative and so rigid, no diversity at all. As a kid when we went the joke was 'The Man' let us go to the resort, as long as we left OC immediately upon completing our visit. LOL!

Now when dh and I visit that area (which is frequently) we are surprised by all the diversity, inter-racial couples (not just older adults, youth and teens dating interracially), and Kerry stickers in the parking lots of Downtown Disney and the DLresort. So it would seem at least some is changing as you said. I hope it continues...

Very sorry to hear about the rally, though. :( You won't get egged.

I am disturbed by the latest trend in television programming featuring
wealthy young teens in Orange Curtain locales. I feel it is encouraging young women to be vapid, materialistic, shallow and all to not think for themselves...to be pack driven, wanna-be's. I don't like it at all. (referring to shows like the OC and one on MTV called Laguna). Not at all positive for young women and girls, imo.

12. I really enjoyed your post
To add insult to injury, I was born in LA so it was a real culture shock when we moved here. I was 9 and being raised by a single mother. Her company moved here so we came with it.
My husband and I rarely do much here, we always go to LA. The shopping districts, the food, museums, classic movies, you name it, its there. I love it when you can be on Sunset, or LaCienega and be surrounded by people from all over the world. Dodger stadium is one of the few original stadiums left, and still, in my opinion, the most beautiful. Have you ever been there? From the top deck, you can see downtown, the ocean and the mountains...no place like it.
Wow, sorry, I didn't mean to go on and on.

These final days before the election are making me nervous, how about you? I am so glad we are voting early. Lets get this nightmare over with! I know Kerry is going to win.

13. I am sorry to hear about the culture shock that you
experienced when you moved there. I am sure I would have felt the same way had I moved there as a kid. It reminds me of Zack de la Rocha (formerly of Rage Against the Machine). I think his parents were an interracial couple and here he was this kid with brown skin and curly hair in the OC. Gee wonder why his music was so angry? NOT! LOL!
I totally get his anger, and think it is completely appropriate.

Oh yes, we've been to Dodger stadium! It's one of my dh's favorite places. He's a HUGE Dodger fan, whether they are winning or losing--he loves them.

Yes, I am nervous about the election too. Glad I'm not the only one. :)
I just hope (and pray) that all the work that everyone has done will come to a positive end (with Kerry elected). It's hard to, but I'm trying to pay less attention to the media. I did watch Michael Moore on Leno last night, and Bill Maher. But I'm beginning to think the others are just so full of it... you know?

How long will you guys be in AZ? That is where you said you were going right? Or are you going to another state that needs you?

So nice to talk to you! Sorry about the length... (lol)

14. Definetly.
There is more to do than there are volonteers.
At this point it is only a 2 week commitment. (2 weeks for a the future of Freedom, Think of the sacrafices others have given for this great land)

Contributions help, but at this point, we need to volonteer to help insure the voters show up at the polls.
