tie. And only a fucking idiot like me would feel obigated to explain to a fucking moron that what we just witnessed was a brilliant dislay of intellect and thoughtfulness at the speed of light. Our boy got the job done big time. He slit their throats and they never knew they were cut. And I'm talking all three debates, combined.
Yeah, everyone can pick their favorite moments from this like the Tony Soprano line or the I married well joke. Mine was when Kerry seamlessly backtracked to the previous queston, quickly made his point and then deftly moved on to the new topic, all within the time restraints. Actually, Kerry managed all his time briliantly in these debates, always the clearheaded one, always with a steady sense of purpose. I even forgot what the darn question was but just the way he was able to switch gears so effortlessly revealed so much about what this guy is made of.
Kerry was so on his game it was sick and I'm talking on a level that few realize. He responded intuitively to questions and seemed to be a man comfortable in his own skin, who knows himself and who consistently seems to display a sense of purpose.
He played us all in these debates, friends and foe alike. Solemn and patient with pleny of facts on hand, he still regularly reminded us that he could deliver a sudden and ruthless condemnation of the president at any moment. And when he did, it was devestating.
He consistently mixed it up. And rarely did he ever sound hollow or too confusing in these debates. And he sure did plenty of talking, spewing all kinds of facts and scenarios. What a smart guy he is.
But what impressed me most was his ability to read his audience. Us. The American people. The fans. The doubters. The fence sitters. The press. And even the haters... though deep down, he knew they would never love him no matter what and he would have to live with that. JK played us all. The way he kept his distance emotionally through these three debates, never opening up to us too much at once. At least not in any ovrt "Aw shucks" manner, like his opponent often did, like John Edards often does. Instead JK gave us a tint bit more each debate. He kept us in suspense. He kept us coming back until at the last moment, tonight, with just mnutes left, he let us in, sharing his soft side and we all lapped it up, hanging on every word. It was cathartic. It was dramatic. It was theatre. And it worked.
I particularly loved the way he didn't go for blood in this last debate when he sure could of. It showed restraint, a great quality for a leader to have. He was always serious but never nasty. He was gentle and earnest yet cunning and relentless.
I am glad he is our guy.
