Why I'm not ready to say "President Kerry"
Because I read crap about how voter registrations are getting torn up in Nevada

Because I read about how in Ohio they would only accept registrations printed on certain types of paper

Because I know for a fact that there are crap voting machines out there that can be easily hacked and have no paper trail

Without a doubt I beleive John Kerry has the votes and the states need to win - but will those votes ever count?

2. Kerry is smarter than that.
He will NOT allow this election to be taken from the people. We are dealing with an extremely intelligent and strategic man.

4. It's up to us (while Kerry can't say it) to TAKE the leadership role
from Bush.

IF YOU WON'T TAKE IT, HE WILL.

Kerry won ALL THREE of these debates. What else do you need?

We're going to win. It's over. The only thing keeping us from doing that is the HESITATION to take it when it's right there in front of us.

5. Hey, Lynne.
I'd worry more about politicking from the pulpit throwing Ohio than the registration deal -- Blackwell lost on that thing over the registration paper weight and they got it soon, so now, the only thing they can do is try to keep the local precincts from handing out provisional ballots to people who have moved since the last time they voted or who show up at the wrong precinct. While that's dirty pool, I don't think it's going to be a do-or-die number.

I'm more concerned about the religious right affecting the ultimate outcome than I am about anything else. Clear Channel controls the radio here already, though at least O'Reilly is going to have a really hard time being sanctimonious now (can you say loofah?). Limbaugh still has his hours and hours.

Registration is over here, now. The big scramble will be to convince people to vote or change their votes, and to intimidate them at the polls. My neighborhood is marginally Repub, so I'm not worried about it here, but I bet in the cities it'll be a clusterf*ck like you've never seen.

10. But what about the crap going on in Las Vegas
and after talking to Libby, she said that voter registration firm was in several swing states, not just Nevada. How many voter registration forms did they rip up???

Voter-Registration Group Accused Of Trashing Democrats' Forms
10.13.2004 7:11 PM EDT

A private voter-registration organization with offices in several key battleground states has been accused of misrepresentation, tearing up registration forms filled out by Democrats, and misleading potential voters to register as Republicans.

Voters Outreach of America — an organization reportedly run by Nathan Sproul, the former head of the Arizona Republican Party — has run registration drives in Pennsylvania, Minnesota, Michigan, Ohio, West Virginia, Florida and Nevada. These registration drives are often run under the name "America Votes," which is a problem, since America Votes is an actual nonpartisan political organization.

"Voters Outreach is not in any way, shape or form associated with us. They called themselves America Votes when they were registering voters," said Carrie Sandstedt, the Nevada director of America Votes. "We've actually sent out a letter to Sproul & Associates asking them to stop calling themselves America Votes."

The letter, written by America Votes President Cecile Richards, accuses Sproul & Associates of running a registration drive in Nevada under the name "Voters Outreach for America (a.k.a. 'America Votes')" and of "destroying registration forms completed by Democrats." In Nevada, Sproul & Associates employed as many as 300 part-time workers to register voters outside of malls, grocery stores and government buildings. One employee said he witnessed a supervisor rip up and throw away registration forms filled out by Democrats.

"We caught her taking Democrats out of my pile, she handed them to her assistant, and he ripped them up right in front of us," former Voters Outreach of America employee Eric Russell told Las Vegas CBS affiliate KLAS-TV. "I grabbed some of them out of the garbage and she tells her assistant to get those from me."

In West Virginia, Lisa Bragg, a temporary worker hired by Sproul & Associates through a personnel service, told The Charleston Gazette that she felt her employers were "misleading the public."

12. Wasn't disagreeing with you.
I posted on another thread about this, earlier today -- how many other places have these freak democracy-haters done the same goddamned thing? And why, when they're questioning every single freakin' registration by left-leaning orgs, did they just let those bastards get by with that shit for so long? I know, it'd disgusting.

I'm suffering severe angst over what they'll pull the next few weeks, too. I just happen to know the facts about Ohio because I'm on the ground here, and I know one of the reasons I have a dimmer view than some is that I live in the most conservative corner of Ohio. I know the soft spot in the throats of Ohio voters, and where the GOP will attempt to place the boot.

Not ready to throw caution to the wind yet here, either. Hopeful, but paranoid, I guess! That's pretty much the way I always am, though. It's just magnified now, because I sense this is a real watershed for the country. I'd like to be optimistic about the direction of my country again, for the first time in almost half a decade.

9. paper trails can be tampered with too
BBV is much ado about nothing. Long before computers were used to fix elections, they did the old-fashioned way: paper!
