Man, this is gonna be a wild (and fun) election....
the next three weeks will be among the most interesting in American electoral politics.

I know how deathly serious it all is... but as a lifelong fan of the sport of politics, this is the Superbowl, World Series and Stanley Cup all rolled into one.

From a pure spectator position, this is gonna be a lot of fun. There will be SO much last-minute dirt flung I think even people here will be surprised. The election itself will be contested, probably in several states.

Go team!

1. This ain't a spectator sport - This requires participation and
work. We need all the help we can get and fewer "spectators". If you sit this one out, don't complain about the results.

4. Thanks for the gratuitous lecture
My post was regarding the entertainment value of this election. There's nothing wrong with acknowledging it.

6. I guess I've been working too much and donating too much
to appreciate it. I'm at the point now where I want it to be over with.

8. I understand
I've been donating too much, too. Not much work though, because I live in the most liberal town in one of the most liberal states.

But I think it *IS* important to enjoy the whole spectacle on one level. I love reading about the history of politics and other nasty campaigns in American history. This is gonna be one for the books - and I feel pretty confident Kerry will win it.

2. Oh, man, I have not been excited like this since 1992...
The only other time I've felt like this was 1976. We WILL win and it won't be close enough to steal. I'm looking for 51%-48%-3%(Nader/Badnarek etc)

Kerry was my 4th or 5th choice, originally, but he has really blown me away with his serious determination to win this thing. This is no Mike Dukakis-this is a John Kennedy or a Bill Clinton-he plays to win.

7. 51-48-3 IS Close Enough to Steal
We have to be in double-digits, and it has to show up in the polls.

10. Then all is lost, because the polls can never show how undecideds break
Edited on Tue Oct-12-04 11:23 PM by Rowdyboy
If Kerry goes into the election tied, there's no way they (Bush) can win. Undecided are NOT going to break for Bush, even narrowly.

3. Considering the freepie tactics thusfar, the process of contesting results
may get out of hand. I hope that the resolution is the kind of fun you describe, rather than how it might be if things go Wrong.

5. I'm totally the opposite.

I can't bear watching sports because I get too nervous. I get butterflies in my stomach and I have to turn off the tv or leave the room.

I'm surprised I'm still so calm right now, but I have a feeling that the week before election is going to be a miserable experience for me.

Go Team!

9. It may well suck
I'm separating my desired outcome from the political "sport". As a sport, it's gonna be historically ugly.

16. I'm going to have a nervous breakdown on Nov 2nd
I get butterflies just thinking about it.

I still remember how I was jumping all over my living room screaming when they called Florida for Gore, and then... wow. That was painful. :(
