F 9/11 could hit TV on 11/1
Well, it could hit pay-per-view:

http://www.jsonline.com/enter/tvradio/oct04/265799.asp

...Meanwhile, Moore is in talks with In Demand Networks to air his documentary on Nov. 1 as part of a three-hour, election-eve program.

Some information about the local affiliates and the Kerry-bashing flick in this column as well.

2. Doubt it will happen
Lots of red tape with Sony (DVD distributor). They would never let any movie hit free TV while the DVD is a hot seller.

Besides, there's not much time. And I believe Moore signed a deal with Showtime(?) to show it sometime next year.

In short, too many contracts to cut through. It's all business and legal shit.

4. Unfortunately that would put us on the same level as Sinclair.
And we never want to get down to that level.

I would have liked to see it a few days before the election because it doesn't give the media any time to talk about it. But Mike, with all you've done to bring about the last days of that rooster fucker, we should cannonize you as a saint.

5. Well if they can go ahead then the other networks would have a
wonderful chance to get back at them. Think about it: both films would get REALLY HIGH viewship and that would appeal to the pocketbooks of these companies, AND allow for fairness.

6. Well I would respectfully say
it would probably be much better to have "going up river" as the counter to that. Because it addresses what they're trying to slime him with. This movie would show his sterling record in Viet Nam.

Farenheit is also doing its thing on DVD anyway. Sony sold 2 million copies first day out.

7. "going up river"
Excellent idea. I was thinking much the same thing earlier tonight. It's a one-to-one correlation on message. I don't see it happening, but in a perfect world, that would be the film shown alongside the latest version of Swift Boat lies. No, wait -- in a perfect world, the Swift Boat lies would never have occurred, or at least would have been shut up just after someone tried to spout them...

8. In a perfect world...
...the media would have smelled bullshit right away with the Swift story.

But they're sure pretty fast at passing judgement on Dan Rather, right?

15. Are you suggesting that we play nice while everything goes up
in flames? If the only way that we can win is to fight fire with fire, then let's go for it.There's too much at stake for the good guys to be good guys.If we have to get in the gutter with Sinclair, then, let's get in the gutter. F9/11 should be run everywhere we can run it, by hook or by crook.Nice guys finish last.

11. Have viewing parties
Invite over friends, stock the house with snacks, beer and soda.

If you want to boost viewership, there are much worse ways.

12. Where's TNT, TBS, or HBO? Would it be possible for them to show it?
That would rule. I say those networks because they clearly have some people with brains behind them. Well, HBO anyway. And the Turner channels have Ted Turner.

14. Wouldn't you love to see Moore offer F9/11 to Sinclair Broadcasting?
Call their bluff. Something like:

"In interests of informing the American people on the eve of the Presidential election, I am offering one-time public air rights for 'Fahrenheit 9/11' to the Sinclair Broadcasting Group, free of charge. Their committment to airing newsworthy documentaries about the candidates is admirable, and in the interests of an open and unfettered discourse, I feel my documentary would make an excellent compare-and-contrast piece for 'Stolen Honor.'"

CALL THEIR BLUFF. EXPOSE THE HYPOCRISY.

If Sinclair is going to wrap themselves in the First Amendment, then fine. DARE THEM TO SAY NO to a documentary with an opposing point of view.

-MR
