Where's the entheusiasm people?
Edited on Sat Oct-09-04 06:57 PM by rockymountaindem
I remember waaaaay back when Kerry kicked ass in the first debate... we were so excited afterwards. It was a great feeling. We were gloating, and braging, and mocking Bush, and mocking Bush, and gloating, and shooting our mouths off. It was awesome.

Now, I don't know what debate you saw last night, but I saw this one debate where Kerry was at least twice as awesome as the first one. And that other dude he was debating with almost bit off the moderator's head like Ozzy Osbourne! Oh, it was quite a show. Unless you were rooting for Ozzy junior, of course.

I don't know what's happened to the fans though. I wonder if it's like the second time the Broncos won the Super Bowl, and we were all like "yeah, what did you expect? It's not as cool as last time."

I don't hear much applauding and "oh man, we're so awesome" around here. What gives?

Let's all do the wave for our man Kerry! And try not to let it die off halfway around the stadium.

On edit:

Just to continue with the Ozzy analogy, Bush is most definately going off the rails on the crazy train.

1. WE'RE AWESOME!!
And by the way, Kerry is definitely winning this election. I even had a friend who is voting Libertarian (she can't stand bush or Kerry, go figure) CONGRATULATE me in the grocery store just now, because she truly thinks bush is toast (she voted for him in 2000, she's not with either party, though).

But I think people are down about the media and I don't blame them.

FUCKING stupid ass shills in the media.

2. Of course Kerry won and
we're excited. But the dissappointment you hear is the let down many of us feel because shrub didn't pee on himself. We were so hoping for something like that.

5. I saw the same debate
you did, but I'm not feeling elated. In fact, I feel downright discouraged. The MSM has scarcely mentioned smirky mcsneer's anger management problem. Polls (except for Zogby) show bush gaining. When I watched last night, I thought bush's performance was so bad that he'd deep-sixed any chance he had, then I got on line and listened to the pundits. I thinks it's tragic. This country is mind bogglingly fucked up.

6. What polls show him gaining?
All the ones I've seen showed Kerry picking up. The Gallup one that showed Kerry winning 45-47 had yet another oversampling of Republicans. And Kerry still won the debate according to that poll!

9. Pshah!
Rassmussen, despite adjusting his methodology after his disgraceful inaccuracies last election, is still a known Republican. While some people seem a little more supportive of him, I'm not too trusting of him.

Even so, polls lag the events which influence them. Wait a couple of days before you say that Bush won the debate.

26. I'm trying to bite my tongue here
and not reflexively lash out. I didn't say bush won the debate but quite the opposite. I said I thought he'd done so poorly that he'd deep-sixed himself. I expressed extreme disappointment that his anger hadn't been duly noted. Please don't misinterpret what I said.

21. The pundits were whoring for Bush..
after the first debate, too.

It wasn't until after they realized that the momentum was completely against them that they changed their minds.

11. Kerry definitely won, the media whores are going to spin bush win
regardless. They tried to make him the winner last week so no surprise this week, he actually had coherent speech.
He lost the debate, if for no other reason than the fact that he almost came after Charlie Gibson a couple of times.
Quote from Kerry today at rally: "I thought I was going to have to pull him off Charlie Gibson a couple of times"
That would have been so funny! (sad but funny)

Nobody watches them!!!!!

Together the cable news networks get like a 5 share of viewership, or about 5 percent of the viewing public. Don't worry about them, they just preach to the choir or piss off people like us.

13. 'Twas an ass waxin' last night
given to * by Kerry.

I was dancing back to my car last night after watching the debate at a local pub.

Today, I'm saving my energy. Kerry rocked - yay team - but there is work to be done, and it's important to keep our eye on the ball. There's a reason why nobody likes a sore winner.

He kept his cool and looked very presidential. Bush went overboard in an attempt to compensate for the first debate. He's a nut job, and he showed it last night.

I had 2 republicans come in and want Kerry signs. The spinmeisters can spin until they drop but they can't hide the truth from people who watched the debate. w is not up to the job and never has been. It has all been a cruel charade.

18. Actually, I was feeling great last night and this morning.
Then I read about the Sinclair Broadcasting thing and it just took the wind out of my sails. It's just so damn frustrating when people cheat and seem to get away with it, especially when the stakes are so high.

It's just a temporary lull, though. I'm not whipped yet and I trust that we'll get through this. Kerry and the DNC are no idiots and they, with our help, will either stop this or use it to our advantage.

The Sinclair thing hasn't even happened yet. We'll probably find some way to stop it or pre-empt it by at least outing their bias before they pull any of their hyjinx.

27. Pacing. Saving Energy. Gathering Strength for the big push.

We're on a roll, no question about it. It's all good.

They're certainly going to throw some shit at us over the next couple weeks. I think people are hunkering down and getting ready.

Kerry looks good. He looks presidential. He sounds strong and he's obviously shown the American people that he (and Edwards, too) are competent, knowledgeable, and Presidential material. I saw (briefly) footage of the PACKED rally in Ohio that Kerry did today. Beautiful sight. Tons of people.

Kerry: "I was a little worried at one point, I thought the President was going to attack Charlie Gibson."

Great line. I'm still looking for the footage of that moment.

Anyway, I'm very optimistic. Ready to give 110%. We've got the candidate, we've got the momentum, we've got the ticket, the ideas, and the organization to pull it off. And we have the good will of the planet and nothing less than the last, best hopes of the human race on our side. I mean, that's what's at stake. As my 80 year old grandmother told me the other day, Kerry HAS to win. He HAS to. For our democracy, for our future, for our kids. Failure may be an option for that asshat from Texas- hell, it's his M.O... but it's not one for us.

So, Fuck Yes I'm enthusiastic.

28. enthusiasm is there. just need to turn out the vote. got it?
get your car and shuttle people to the polls. If you're in a state with mail ballot like Oregon....get on volunteer call center list so you can call people and remind them to vote. (Especially in Multnomah, Lane, and Benton counties, wink wink).

We ARE excited about Kerry and his latest debate performance and substance. He went on the offensive against the petty and childish labels and name calling. Not only the "flip-flopper" deal but also the "Clear skies", "Healthy FOrests", "Compassionate Conservative" and the whole big wad of shit we've dealt with these 4 years.

IT was GREAT.

No one can expect Bush would suck it so bad 2 debates in a row, but he sucked it really bad on the first so the important middle of the road people had antanae up when he goes ballistic and starts screaming his ass off in the St. LOuis debate.

Looking forward to Wednesday.

30. I'm a bit discouraged. * is still leading in the polls.
I am beginning to think that no matter what we do, there are those who are going to see to it that we get four more years of hell.

That is soooooo wrong. Here comes a war with Iran or N. Korea, and God knows what else. Higher deficits (my 401K is going to get eaten away by higher taxes to pay for those deficits). It's all so....depressing sometimes. How can half the country want that buffoon? How can they not see that he's a bad guy? That he's dangerous? It's not that he's a Repub. It's that he's dangerous and bad and unknowledgeable and arrogant....

I hope I snap out of this. I hope we win.
