* will hurl zingers, reliving debate 1. Armed w/new facts, JK will weave
Edited on Fri Oct-08-04 11:49 AM by henslee
a fresh new narrative that will engage the audience of 60 million in a whole new way. (New facts such as job #'s, WMD info, Bigley's death). JK will shine as he simultaneously fields questions and maintains his compelling narrative.

Bush's zingers will fall flat. They will be like listening to a tired old joke. Bush will never seem more irrelevant.

Poss. post debate: Spin for Bush will be frenetic. But 60 million gut feelings will be too much to overcome. At this point Bush will be more desperate than ever. And more dangerous. Would not put it past him to time a terror alert elevation that eliminates the 3rd debate.

1. All perhaps ture
but I doubt 60 million will watch tonight. There is usually a major rop off from Debate 1 to Debate 2. Of course, you never know.

5. Normally I'd agree, but over 40M watched the VP debate
which is usually much smaller.

I fully expect everyone will still be watching to see if the last one was a fluke or the real deal.

It's up to Kerry to kick ass for us. We've all been working for him, this is his chance to pay us back, and he knows it.

6. I actually knew more people who watched the VP debates than
the first Presidential debate.

Interest is ramping up. I honestly believe a majority of the country wants to get rid of Bush, but they aren't just going to toss the Presidency to just anyone, not after Bush has messed up so much, so the people are scrutinizing Kerry. I really think the BCCI and Iran/Contra stories need to get into regular media to show how Kerry has pursued gov't corruption.

7. Great points...
I agree the problem up until now has been everyone is voting against George Jr., very few people are voting FOR Kerry. I believe the Pew Ceenter asked in their poll (It might not have been Pew) whether people were voting primarily for Kerry or against Bush.

70% of respondents said they were voting against Bush.

The first debate gave people a good look into Kerry, I think. I think we'll see more and more people switching from Mickey Mouse to John Kerry, and it's much easier to get people out to the polls when they're voting FOR someone rather than AGAINST the opponent.

Keep it up Kerry!

2. Expect a lot of zingers
to be used as sound bites......cheap stump speech "guffaws" etc....

Comedians I know tell me that comedy is the hardest act to perform because of timing and connection to the audience....hope his "zingers" fall flat.......

I wonder....is the audience instructed not to react? That alone will make zingers fall flat.

3. Bush's jokes are at his own risk. With soldiers dying, Kerry can call
him on any flippant remarks.

8. Yup...
I don't think

Wrong war, wrong place, wrong time

carries any weight anymore. When Cheney said it it seemed to me to just fall flat. Yes, yes, we've heard it before.

Global Test however - that's a new one!

9. Right after the VP debate all the pundits
thought CHeney's zinger about it being the first time they met was a devatating blow -turned out it was his downfall.
