Squibs (venting)

Here is a picture of squibs (venting) following an explosion:

You can clearly see them coming out of a mechanical floor at the top of the building. Obviously, the squibs (venting) are a result of an explosion, which we can see clearly. They must have travelled up one of the freight lift shafts, as the floor that they are exiting does not have passenger lift shafts. Incidentally, this could well be the same freight lift shaft that the janitor was standing by in the basement when he got burned.
