A major new study of the straight-out-of-science-fiction syndrome known as Morgellons will be launched in Northern California, federal health officials said Wednesday.

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control has contracted with Kaiser Permanente Northern California to investigate the mystery disease which makes sufferers feel like bugs are crawling under their skin. Symptoms include itching, biting and crawling sensations and red, blue or black filaments that emerge from skin lesions.

"The cause of this condition is unknown," Dr. Michele Pearson, principal investigator with the CDC, said during a telephone news conference Wednesday. "Those who suffer from this condition, as well as their families and physicians, have questions, and we want to help them find meaningful answers."

The San Francisco Bay Area is believed to be one of the nation's hot spots for the malady, according to a patient registry maintained by the Morgellons Research Foundation, an advocacy group. Others include the Los Angeles region, Texas and Florida.

Scientists and doctors continue to debate whether Morgellons (pronounced mor-GELL-uns) represents a real, physical disease or is a type of mental illness. People suffering from the syndrome are typically treated with psychiatric drugs, although one clinic in Texas has treated patients with long-term antibiotics.

Obviously extremely painful and debilitating. Good bit of info on it in the urls.

I found this info by googling morgellons and chemtrails as follow up to a post on morgellons on the health thread.
But I've seen some of it discussed on threads before. More interest likely since the CDC is doing a study of it.

There are no "chemtrails".

They're called contrails (condensation trails) and they're water vapor and exhaust components from jet engines.

There's nothing mysterious about them and the "patterns" people see are just normal air traffic.

10. Okay....I've clicked on three of the links so far and...

not one provides any sort of documentation of its claims. I guess we're just supposed to believe that the author would not steer us wrong. For example, in the link that alleges that the GAO has admitted that chemtrails are real, where is the documentation from the GAO? I mean, if they've admitted it, wouldn't we have it?

More importantly, is ANYONE in the CT community going to think about this and pause long enough to ask the OBVIOUS logical question?? IF, as claimed, nefarious government/military entities are deliberately spraying harmful chemicals/substances to hurt us, how do the plotters protect themselves?? Jesus, use your brain CT's.

I guess I should add the obligatory postscript here, lest I be accused of shilling for the Bush Administration. I DESPISE the Bush Administration.
