Third Time: Jewish Forces Raze Synagogue

For the third time in a month, Israel’s security forces have destroyed a synagogue in the Samaria town of Nachliel. The synagogue was originally built after the construction freeze in Judea and Samaria went into effect. Local residents erected it anew after each destruction, and promise to do the same again.

MK Michael Ben-Ari (National Union) said in response, “When it comes to illegal mosques, the Government of Israel displays great sensitivity and does not raze them. But no such consideration is shown for synagogues; there is no sensitivity when it comes to that which is holy to Israel.”

Lt.-Col. (res.) Itzik Shadmi, a resident of a town near Nachliel, said with bitter irony, “I would like to congratulate Defense Minister Ehud Barak on his cleverness and iron fist in sending in his forces in the middle of the night for a ten-minute mission, in and out, to destroy a shack used as a synagogue… in enforcing his racist decision to forbid only Jewish construction... Apparently the army doesn’t have any missions more important than this.”

The Binyamin Residents Committee issued this statement: “It is sad to see that while Iran and Hizbullah threaten our country’s very existence and the right of the Jewish People to its land, the government is busy showing the world that we don’t have any right to our land by destroying synagogues.”

18. The discussion on this thread seems to have gotten a bit off track...

The real point that one can get from this article (regardless of motivation for posting) is that the RW settlers are not going without a fight; are a danger to Palestinians and ultimately a danger to Israel; and they have got away with far too much for far too long.

That's the very point I got from reading the article. btw, when it comes to motivation for posting, which seems to be something tearing up one or two other posters right now, I'm doing it to watch their heads explode and to display the strange situation where extreme RW crap like that is allowed yet equally silly crap like If Americans Knew isn't. So while Arutz Sheva is still allowed to be posted here, I figure I'll keep on posting entertaining articles I find in it...

21. I think that there's a difference between posting far-RW American or Europaean sources ...

like IfAmericansKnew and Frontpage.mag, which don't really add any info; and quoting RW regional sources like Arutz Sheva or a Hamas leader's speech, which at least give some info, if of a depressing nature, about what is happening in the region, and what people trying to solve the conflict are up against.

Just my view; I'm not a mod.

posting from the regional RW (and LW) sites..i.e. hamas, arutz sheva bring in additional information from people that have an affect on the ground, they have to be heard, listened to (and eventually sidelined), but they can't be ignored.

knowing how they think, believe is actually pretty important to understand the conflict, unlike the extremists sites in the US and Europe (and Australia?)

as far as razing the synagogue...well first of all it was probably nothing more than a caravan that was "blessed" with holy water or something (am i getting my religions mixed up here?). But more to the point its just using religion as an emotional trigger, just like the muslims do over any construction in jerusalem....

designed to bring out the "OMG" those heretics are destroying our holy thingys...whats next, they're going to commit genocide?
