"There are differences of approach toward the problems in the Middle East between our government and the administration of (US President Barack) Obama, but they point more to wording and semantics than to reality," Transport Minister Israel Katz told public radio.
---
Katz, a member of Netanyahu's right-wing Likud party, said discussions with Washington will focus on security issues, particularly the "threats by Iran as well as Hamas," the Islamist group that rules the Gaza Strip.
Netanyahu has been chilly toward the vision of creating a Palestinian state in the near future, as proposed by Washington and other powers and accepted by previous Israeli governments. He has called instead for focusing on economic development in the occupied Palestinian territories and security.
Asked about the two-state question, Katz said: "Netanyahu has already agreed to a
Palestinian entity that is not threatening to Israel."
