Egypt President, Saudi King To Meet On Gaza Cease-Fire

RIYADH (AFP)--Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak will meet Saudi King Abdullah in Riyadh on Tuesday as Arab leaders seek ways to bring about a cease-fire in Gaza, the Saudi state news agency SPA reported.

The two close allies will discuss "regional and international issues of mutual interest" as well as bilateral relations, it said.

Egypt has been trying to broker a cease-fire between Gaza's ruling Islamist Hamas group and Israel, which launched a deadly offensive on the Palestinian territory on Dec. 27 that has killed more than 900 people.

The Riyadh meeting comes ahead of a meeting of Arab foreign ministers in Kuwait on Friday to discuss Israel's refusal to abide by a U.N. Security Council resolution calling for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, Arab League Secretary General Amr Mussa said on Monday.
