PLO: Israel behind Muslim-West tensions

WASHINGTON - Afif Safieh, PLO representative in Washington said on Sunday that the "pro-Israeli Likud wing around the world" is working to inflame the relationship between Western and Arab-Muslim societies.

Safieh said this on CNN's Late Edition with Wolf Blitzer as part of his response to the subject of Muslim riots and the Danish caricatures. Safieh hinted that it is in the interest of right-wing Israelis to stir up anger over the drawings of the Prophet Mohammed.

Blitzer asked Safieh, who appeared for a joint interview with Israeli Ambassador to Washington Danny Ayalon and Egyptian Ambassador Nabil Fahmi, to state his opinion on the ongoing affair.
