Government urged to ban Galloway's Big Brother charity
By Melissa Kite and Patrick Hennessy
(Filed: 15/01/2006)

A charity that stands to make a six-figure sum from George Galloway's appearance on Celebrity Big Brother is at the centre of a diplomatic row between Britain, the United States and Israel.

After days of controversy over Mr Galloway's antics in the Big Brother house, the Sunday Telegraph can reveal that Israel's ambassador to London will hold urgent talks with a Treasury minister this week to demand action be taken against Interpal, the MP's chosen charity.

Interpal, established in 1994, describes itself as "a non-political, non-profit making British charity that focuses solely on the provision of relief and development aid to the poor and needy of Palestine".

Instead, he shocked Muslim constituents by licking imaginary milk from the hands of the actress Rula Lenska.

Galloway 'cat' act sparks anger
George Galloway has been branded a "laughing stock" by a Labour opponent after the Respect MP imitated a cat on Celebrity Big Brother.
Mr Galloway, 51, went on all fours, purred and pretended to lick cream from actress Rula Lenska's hands, as part of a task set on the Channel 4 show.

1. Blair and Bush bomb cities. That is shocking.
Edited on Mon Jan-16-06 03:47 AM by Tom Joad
I don't think many muslim constituents are really all that concerned about his relationship with the actress. They will let him know if they are. Galloway is not Muslim, after all.

Clowning around and initiating laughter in others is a very human thing, Bush does this all the time, especially when he is really attempting to be serious.

Generosity is another very human activity.
People may want to check out the website of the charity he is donating to:
http://www.interpal.org and come up with their own conclusions.

Bombing cities in Iraq, supporting military occupation, is not what people should be about. It is not a natural human activities.

2. 'Galloway can no longer count on the indulgence of polite society'

Galloway can no longer count on the indulgence of polite society

snip
George Galloway and his backers in the Socialist Workers Party are finished now. The alliance they organised between the Trotskyist far left and the Islamic far right, which produced the most disgraceful protest movement since the Thirties, can no longer count on the indulgence of polite society."

snip

When the Guardian and other British papers start running very negative articles like this, it's not about simple clowning around any more.

4. It's wasn't the wisest move on his part...
maybe even a very dumb one. Not quite sure what this has to do with the I/P conflict though.
What next, gossip about Susan Sarandon?
