Iran's President Again Doubts Holocaust
TEHRAN, Iran - Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has reiterated his doubt about the Holocaust and called on Muslim nations to take a proactive stand on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, state media reported Tuesday.

The president's comments, published on Iranian state television's Web site, were the second time in a week he has expressed doubt about the Nazi genocide of Jews during World War II. In October, Ahmadinejad also said Israel should be "wiped off the map."

"If the killing of Jews in Europe is true," the Web site quoted Ahmadinejad as saying during a speech at an Islamic conference in Tehran, "and the Zionists are being supported because of this excuse, why should the Palestinian nation pay the price?"

In Israel, Foreign Ministry spokesman Mark Regev criticized the remarks.

7. Because his comments have already been discussed into the ground?
Should I start copying my same initial post into every new thread about this nutter?

11. Not quite Violet, but the fact that he keeps on the same theme
shows he is seriously disturbed. I think every time he rags on like this, it should be posted.

13. It is the same each time. I've got no problem with it being posted...
But my opinion hasn't changed since the first time, so I'm wondering why anyone would be concerned that people don't have anything to say when the guy is saying the same stuff over and over...

2. He must have been talking to Mel Gibson's dad!
Holocaust denials are not confined to the Middle East!

Mel Gibson's father describes the Holocaust as 'fiction'

Tracy Connor / New York Daily News (KRT)

A week before Mel Gibson's movie about Jesus Christ hits theaters, his father has gone on an explosive rant against Jews - claiming they fabricated the Holocaust and are conspiring to take over the world.

"They're after one world religion and one world government," Hutton Gibson, 85, said in a radio interview that will air Monday night.

"That's why they've attacked the Catholic Church so strongly, to ultimately take control over it by their doctrine."

In the bizarre interview, Gibson also said Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan should be lynched and called for the government to be overthrown.

The movie star's father has made outrageous statements about the Holocaust and Jewish conspiracies before.

4. Gibson belongs to a fringe Catholic cult
They believe that the Pope is a false Pope, and they use Latin in everything. Considering how much effort the Vatican has gone through to make up for centuries of anti-Semitism, I tremble to think how far back into the Dark Ages Gibson's "Catholicism" is.

6. The mullahs want Iran to be a mental hospital — so let's invite them over
(Although there are certain things in the article with which I agree, I think the writer is making light of a dangerous situation and offers some simplistic solutions)

The mullahs want Iran to be a mental hospital — so let's invite them over
David Aaronovitch

LIBERAL DEMOCRAT peers: you never know whether you’re going to find them bravely castigating Western governments for human rights failures, or seeking to have us understand why much worse abuses committed by exotic foreigners are somehow less awful than they seem.

snip
So sentiments such as those of the Iranian President are alarming enough at any time. And this is not just any time, because — as the United Nations reports — Iran is probably developing a nuclear weapon capacity. There are, of course, some British political figures who are rather more tolerant of Iran acquiring nuclear weapons than Britain keeping hers. But for the rest of us it’s pretty frightening, and strato-talk about regional power structures and Iranian insecurity seem to exist in a psychological world separate from wipings-outs of entire nations.

Go and read the main Ahmadinejad speech on the internet and see whether it makes you feel less queasy to read the whole mad rant of it.
snip

No wonder that one of the President’s first acts, completed last week, was to ban all foreign films from being shown in Iran. They were said to contain seeds of a dangerous and corrupting culture, which could influence Iranians in the directions of drug-taking (as if!), feminism, liberalism and secularism. Given half a chance, the hardliners seemed to be saying, those contaminated would chuck in the safety of the closed ward and lithium tablets, for a cavort in the wild world outside
