well.....unless you're a bad guy that is. All PD's have a cache of automatic weapons, if for nothing else, to counter the Bad Guys who invariably have them. You won't see the cops patroling the streets with them, unless there is major civil unrest etc. that is. I'd much rather these type of weapons be in the hands of law enforcement than criminals.

I don't know what the population of Newark is but it can't be that damned big. Why in the hell do they need M-16's unless they're doing a lot of organized crime bust.
