I own assualt rifles, ask me anything!
Yes I own the ar-15, I own an M1a and I own a benneli M3 super 90.
Have you any problems with my ownership of these firearms?
If you do have problems with them, I would like to hear about it.

I was using the anti-defense crowds term for my semi-automatic weapons. To some, every weapon is an assualt weapon.

is that I don't have any of them...

I want an M-4, eventually, and I am going to trade my Browning Gold for a Benelli Super Black Eagle.

I hate gas-operated shotguns, because they are a pain in the ass to clean.

I have no real problem with your ownership of them unless they are stolen or sold to a gun show where protections to keep them out of the hands of criminals are no oberved..but again...what is the need for these weapons?

Should you be allowed to own NUKES as well?

16. Here we go with "why do you need a weapon"
That gets tiring. Why do you need anything? Why do you need a car when you can take the bus? Why do you feel the need to say what you want?

I need these weapons because I want them, and nobody but me can justify my "need" for them.

45. Here is why I own them
I am planning on building a custom AR15 when I get the money, I also want a G36 clone and a SB89. All three are considered "assault weapons." I also want several politically correct firearms, so far I have two hunting shot guns.

My reason for owning one is mainly recreation, but home defence is a nice bonus. Nothing can beat a small rifle for defending your home, although some prefer short barrelled shot gun, YMMV. If you want "need" ask the police, they have 800K, need has no place in a free society.

Nukes are not personal arms, can not fight of burglars or tyranny, and almost no one could safely store one. If someone had legitimate research in mind I could see getting a permit as long as they can keep them away from other people, etc. To answer your question, for most people and situations, no. Why do you ask, or imply any similarities?

19. My own personal answers
These are the answers to MY collection of assault rifles (which are full-automatic, or select-fire, weapons firing an 'intermediate' round)

What Do You Do With Your Assualt Rifles?

Store them mostly, shoot them occasionally

Do you show them off to friends?

Sometimes, but usually only at meets or some other occaision.

Do you use them for anything?

Well I use one or two for home defense, the rest I use for shooting targets

Where did you buy them?

From various places, some I have built.

ARe these things collectibles (will they increase in value over time)?

The 'pre-may's are. The 'post-may's arent.

Do you find these things "attractive" in an aesthetic sense (I collect antique sewing tools because I think they are beautiful objects and functional as well) ?

Yeah, the engineering of some is spectacular.

Of course I collect lots of things, I even have 2 or 3 old manual sewing machines running around the place.

I have military training with the weapons so it makes sense to own what you know. I live in a remote area with little or no police protection, the nearest nieghbor is over 1/2 mile away. I value my life enough to be prepared for anything. Nobody is going to tell me what is best when it comes to my personal defense.
I keep them locked in a 800lb safe when I leave the farm to prevent theft. I shoot them every once in a while.

No militia membership, no skinhead meetings on my farm, no cross burnings either. I don't even hunt! I just find it humerous that many on the board think that being a good democrat means being unarmed.

I live in Tennessee, I know Al Gore lost the state because of this one issue. I am going to keep pounding that fact into the heads of the ban guns faction of our party til it hurts! I don't want to see whats his face back in the whitehouse in 2004.

Well as I recall my father never beat my mother. Why do you equate violence with gun ownership? I have yet to shoot at anyone, I hope I never have to. I am about as mellow as they come. I even caught and released three crickets that were in my house this morning, does that sound violent?

I guess next thing out of your bag of tricks is going to be penis size.

And why did you release crickets? Those things have tens of thousands of offspring that can infest your house. Crickets die, spiders live.

31. Tell me about it!
I am in the middle Tennessee area and we are infested this year. I cut the grass around the house yesterday and I ran a majority of the crickets up to the house. When I was finished there must have been 3-400 crickets on the side of the house. The dang things get so loud at night it is hard to sleep! I can't wait for the first frost!

Is the Universe expanding

All observations appear to indicate that it is.

and if it is, will it continue to do so forever?

Yes, No, Maybe. So far all evidence seems to indicate that it will, but their some dispute among the various specialities involved as to whether enough evidence is in to make an accurate and correct determination.

Can this Universe expand forever if it's enclosed as a particle in an outer Universe which is contracting?

Yes, if you subscribe to certain theories.

How many dimensions are there really?

Infinite, but it really all depends on what exactly you mean by 'dimension'.

34. questions
1. Is there a good bullpup conversion for my SKS rifles?
2. Is there a bullpup conversion for my AK's that has a good trigger?
3. I used an M-16 and saw *people I'd shot get up and move away.
why would anyone prefer an M-16 over the 7.62x39?
4. How about the .22 magnum and .17 Ruger "poor man's assault rifle"?
5. My concealed handgun is far more likely to save my life than the rifles locked away in my house.
why advocate assault rifles?
6. G&A magazine tested .22 semi auto rifles decades back.
Almost every one of them could fire "as fast as you can pull the trigger"
A couple exceeded 1700 rounds per minute.
why would anyone need full auto?

7. In the US military; I heard often:
"A trained marksman with a .22 is more dangerous than a monkey with a machine gun."
8. Freedom of speech could include freedom to teach others to make home-made weapons to resist an unconstitutional police state.
An armed citizen can be surrounded and subdued by the police state while newsies parrot false charges.
which amendment is more important?
1st or 2nd?

9. Considering the failure of the trained monkeys with machine guns to subdue Iraq;
Would you recommend the US also resort to guerilla warfare to resist an invasion by foreigners?

2) Yes there is.
3) Why would anybody prefer either of those over a good 300 WinMag?
4) .17 Ruger to do what? Annoy?
5) Because you use a pistol, others use rifles, others use shotguns.
6) Because they're fun to shoot.
7) Interesting. Is there a question here?
8) Both are equally important.
9) Could be very effective. Foreign invaders would also be "resisted" by our conventional and nuclear arsenals.

There you go!

38. Answers
1- No
2- Define 'good trigger', but I will hazard a guess and say no.
3- Because after looking at the ballistic capabilites of the two rounds, I would say that if you had shot the same person (that got up and walked away) with a 7.62x39 that you shot with a 5.56x45 that person may not have had to 'get up', he may have simply walked away. Under 150 meters a M-16A2 using M193 or M855 has more wounding potential than even a 7.62x51.
4- Over the m-16 or the 7.62x39? Over the M-16, no
5- Depends on where you are
6- Because there is a difference between 'pulling as fast as you can' and automatic fire, but in reality very few 'need' full auto, there is a reason why the Army has dropped that option from nearly all its issued weapons (nearly all of them are 3rd Burst only), the only units that maintain a supply of the FA weapons are usually special forces, and surprisingly some NG (more because they are so far down the list to change out weapons).
7- Yeah, machine guns are used more for tactics (suppresive fire) than for killing.
8- Both, Neither.
9- Of course.

It has a brake on it rather than a flash hider- I hate the brake because it amplifies the sound two fold. I do have the forward assist. I will probably buy another upper if the ban sunsets and go to a threaded barrel.

Myself, I'm going to pick up several of the recent Yugo surplus offerings (M48 Mauser, 24/47 Mauser, and an SKS) and wait for the AWB to die. I hope that the end of the ban will bring down the prices and allow some quality names, HK in particular, to start importing at affordable prices.

41. Import ban and AWB ban are different things
Very different things.

Prez Shrub the First issued the 'import ban' by an EO in 1989, it stems from the 'sporting purpose' clause written into the GCA of '68.

The sunset of the AWB will have nothing to do with importation of firearms. The 'import ban' will nver sunset, it can only be defeated by the SCOTUS or by the Pres issuing a counter EO.

And dont expect a US HK plant to produce a firearm for civilian sales, their reps have more or less said that their future plant will not be producing firearms for civilian sales.

Now SIg on the other hand has said that if the Ban sunsets they will probably set up a US plant and produce a US made Sig550, which is better than the HK, strickly for civilian sales.

43. No problem here
I own two AR-15's (one pre one post), a Calico M-950, Ruger 10/22, Winchester 1300 and a Glock 27. I have never pointed my gun at or shot anything other than targets. I hope no one ever forces me to have to defend myself with one of them but I'm ready and willing if I have to.

I would hate to see the AWB sunset because three of my six weapons would end up back on the street! I don't know how they would get back on the street but a lot of people here have told me if the ban sunsets assault weapons will end up back on the street. I like them to much to just let them walk out on me.
