Good news for a change
Campus carry bill may have been stopped for good

A measure to make it legal to carry concealed handguns in college classrooms may have been shot down for good late Thursday in the Texas House..."Here's a novel idea. Let's give students financial aid instead of firearms," Villarreal said.

1. Were they actually going to GIVE the students firearms?
Just hand them out along with the course syllabus at the beginning of the semester?

Dang! Sign me up! I have to BUY my guns!

2. actually
I'm sure, as most people understood except for those who have breathed way too much cordite, that his point was we should be discussing funding education and not arming students. Glad I was able to help you understand that.

4. all for funding education
but the students would be buying their own or what they already have. Since it would only apply to those with CCWs, the latter would apply so it is still absurd. It is also the dumbest example of false choice.

5. The day you bring about an increase in understanding of any issue
will be a remarkable day, indeed.

"Let's give students financial aid instead of firearms."

His point may have been what you state. His wording suggests (states, actually) the choice is between giving finiancial aid to students or giving weapons to students.

My understanding is not the issue. The issue is his inexpert wording.

17. Hehe, cute.
Seriously though, I don't really see how this is good news. No extra funding, and no effective self defense. Kind of a lose/lose situation really.

6. Yeah, that would be cool.
Do I get a choice? Think they would have five-sevens, or Walther P99s?
I wonder if they would for each class.
Walther PPK for international affairs
Colt model P for history (Ruger Blackhawk will do), the a 1911 once get to 20th century?

10. Most criminals do prefer their victims disarmed in advance.

In a quirk of logic failure, some "progressives" and numerous politicians agree with, and abet, the criminals on this issue.

'Tis a puzzlement....

11. "stopped for good"?
Nope.

It will be back next year, and the year after that and the year after that...until it passes.

Something gun control pushers taught the pro-gun movement.

12. The willful ignorance by prohibitionists never ceases to amaze.
"Here's a novel idea. Let's give students financial aid instead of firearms,"

Hmmm, I don't remember ANYTHING in the Bill that proposed giving firearms to students, but this yahoo takes the typical dishonest tactic of the prohibitionist, just like the OP, and refutes a claim THAT NO ONE EVER MADE IN THE FIRST PLACE.

Its a dishonest, intentional misrepresentation of the issue, but I don't think anyone expects anything less from a prohibitionist. Dishonesty is the MO, right?
