What is the penalty in your state for carrying into places that post "No Guns"?
I mean for legal CCW holders.

In Kansas, if caught and charges are pressed by the property owner, it is a $50 fine the first time and a $100 fine the second time. The 3rd time is a fine and possible jail time.

Any other states harsher?

1. There never would...
...and never could be such places. It's unconstitutional for a start, and unnecessary, for any place to even have such a sign.

Name me one thing in life guns don't make better.

6. How would anyone know if someone was carring concealed?
Sounds like its an advertisement to criminals that the patrons are not armed.

17. A coat pocket is not a good way to secure a gun
When I carry it is either in a holster or in a fanny pack designed for concealed carry.

Edited on Sat Mar-26-11 05:47 PM by oneshooter
It carries no weight of law.

PROHIBITING HANDGUNS IN A BUSINESS OR OTHER ENTITY

In order to provide notice that entry on property by a license holder with a concealed handgun is forbidden, Penal Code Section 30.06(c)(3)(A) requires that a written communication contain the following language:

"PURSUANT TO SECTION 30.06, PENAL CODE (TRESPASS BY HOLDER OF A LICENSE TO CARRY A CONCEALED HANDGUN) A PERSON LICENSED UNDER SUBCHAPTER H, CHAPTER 411, GOVERNMENT CODE (CONCEALED HANDGUN LAW), MAY NOT ENTER THIS PROPERTY WITH A CONCEALED HANDGUN."

"CONFORME A LA SECCIÓN 30.06 DEL CÔDIGO PENAL (TRASPASAR PORTANDO ARMAS DE FUEGO) PERSONAS CON LICENCIA BAJO DEL SUB-CAPITULO H, CAPITULO 411, CODIGO DE GOBIERNO (LEY DE PORTAR ARMAS), NO DEBEN ENTRAR A ESTA PROPIEDAD PORTANDO UN ARMA DE FUEGO."

Download language

Penal Code Section 30.06(c)(3)(B) further states that a sign must meet the following requirements:

includes the language described by Paragraph (A) in both English and Spanish;
appears in contrasting colors with block letters at least one inch in height; and
is displayed in a conspicuous manner clearly visible to the public.

A photocopy of the sign(81/2" x 11")is NOT a legal posting.

(d) An offense under this section is a Class A misdemeanor

3. Unless it is aplace designated by law as a "gun free zone" (we know how well those work, right?)
then all the owner can do is ask the patron to leave (but if its concealed, how would they know?). If the patron refuse, then its a trespassing issue.

19. Same in Texas, unless they have a 30.06 sign.
30.06 refers to the part of Texas law that specifies EXACTLY what the sign must say and how big it must be, and at all enterances. Merely a "no guns" sign is meaningless.

30. No one cares about a single customer?
Maybe. But CHL/CCW people are often members of gun clubs and ranges. They talk, they post. When there is an alternative source, they often choose the less restrictive vendor.

35. Unless you live in Illinois or Wisconsin
there probably are legally concealed firearms entering your business on a regular basis.

Of course, in IL or WI, it would just be the illegally carried concealed weapons.

38. Nope, Here a person goes to jail, as I have the proper signage, checked by the police, no less for.
.legitimacy and legality.

Pack a gun into my store and the perp will be going to jail, unless they run before
the police get here.

If I, or an employee, gets the plates on thier car, they will likely be getting a
knock on the door by LE.

Cops and the general public around these parts really dont like guns in the hands
of the public on our streets, either.

Either way, I just dont want to be around people who are willing to kill others with a gun.

40. Well unfortunately for you,
Unless you avoid grocery stores, movie theaters, and other public venues then you are around people with guns, most likely several per day. ZOMG!!! The sky is falling!

I carry a firearm wherever i am not forbidden by law. I am prepared to use that firearm to deliver lethal force if there is a serious threat to my family or my life. What's wrong with refusing to be a victim?

A gun in the hand beats two cops on the phone.

22. No penalty.
In WA state, "no guns" signs carry no legal weight.

If the owner/manager asks you do leave and you do not, you can be charged with trespassing. However, that has nothing to do with you being armed except that this might be why you are asked to leave.

If it is concealed, who is going to know in the first place.

24. In other places, like the secured area of a jail, or the portion of a licensed
liquor-serving establishment that posts 21 and over signs, you forefit your CPL, possible fine, possible forefiture of the weapon.

29. I don't think I've ever seen a "circle-slash No Guns" sign in WA
The local malls notionally prohibit carrying firearms, including "pursuant to a license" but they bury it somewhere in a list of "standards of conduct" in small print to the side of the entrance. There's no big eye-catching signs that would be really difficult to miss.

41. Here in Washington, it would be akin to violating a "No Shirt, No Shoes, No Service" sign
If the business says leave, and you don't, then one could be arrested for trespass. However, without hidden metal detectors or security rushing you and frisking you, how would they know if it's concealed?
