Vince Vaccaro of Townsend, Mont. , sports his rifle during the Lewis and Clark Conservative Tea Party's "Constitution Rally", Friday, March 4, 2011, on the steps of the Sate Capitol in Helena, Mont. The Lewis & Clark's Conservative Tea Party group received permission to bring unloaded and secured weapons onto Capitol grounds to support allowing guns in off-limits areas. The organizer and conductor of the rally, Tim Ravndal, said the rally is about protecting Second Amendment rights by making legislators see and hear how important gun rights are.

Notice no one's standing near him -- & it isn't because of his big ol' gun.

Those thing are way too bulky to work as shooters' gloves.

I think we should start staging Sex Toy Rallies and see what happens.

These are the folks still willing to work within the system to bring about the restoration of gun rights.

God help us if they should fail, for then we will see the darker elements of gun rights advocacy on display.

40. Of course they do.
Politics is nothing more then naked force. Unions intimidate regularly, as do many other advocacy groups.

It has happened throughout our history in the USA, Read: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deacons_for_Defense_and_Ju...

No real political change happens here in America without at least the threat of force.

72. Only a few states register guns..
And that isn't likely to change.

Even so, there's a federal 11% excise tax on guns and ammunition- all owners pay that, and the proceeds go toward wildlife conservation.

You are in the minority, and it isn't likely to change any time soon.

You're out of touch with current gun owners. Go find a rocking chair and talk about the 'good old days'.

165. You can't register a firearm in Florida. It against the law...

790.335 Prohibition of registration of firearms; electronic records.

(1) LEGISLATIVE FINDINGS AND INTENT.--

(a) The Legislature finds and declares that:

1. The right of individuals to keep and bear arms is guaranteed under both the Second Amendment to the United States Constitution and s. 8, Art. I of the State Constitution.

2. A list, record, or registry of legally owned firearms or law-abiding firearm owners is not a law enforcement tool and can become an instrument for profiling, harassing, or abusing law-abiding citizens based on their choice to own a firearm and exercise their Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms as guaranteed under the United States Constitution. Further, such a list, record, or registry has the potential to fall into the wrong hands and become a shopping list for thieves.

3. A list, record, or registry of legally owned firearms or law-abiding firearm owners is not a tool for fighting terrorism, but rather is an instrument that can be used as a means to profile innocent citizens and to harass and abuse American citizens based solely on their choice to own firearms and exercise their Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms as guaranteed under the United States Constitution.

4. Law-abiding firearm owners whose names have been illegally recorded in a list, record, or registry are entitled to redress.

They scared the shit out of (or "caused moral harm to", if you like) parts of the white establishment, so one of their practices

was outlawed.

53. actually, it is most likely a hardwood laminate
While they are an esthetically pleasing stock, they are also very utilitarian. They are made by laminating several layers of dense, hardwoods together with heat and epoxy type resins. This makes them far less susceptible to moisture invasion, softening of the wood and various other possible problems with tradition wood stocks.

151. Ak 47s can be built anywhere. And are.
Please note that the rate of serious crime (including murder) has fallen for the last 15 years, even as the number of firearms in civilian hands has gone up by well over 100,000,000. This does not prove that "more guns = less crime," but it fails to prove the old hack expression (still adhered to by many centrist Democrats) "more guns = more crime."

My cat enjoyed dry formula and most of what I was eating. How about yours?

14. This teabagger bullshit
and the current affairs these days take me back a few years.....Does any of this sound kind of like what's happening today?

"A South politician preaches to the poor white man
"You got more than blacks, don't complain
You're better than them, you been born with white skin" they explain
And the Negro's name
Is used it is plain
For the politician's gain
As he rises to fame
And the poor white remains
On the caboose of the train
But it ain't him to blame
He's only a pawn in their game.

The deputy sheriffs, the soldiers, the governors get paid
And the marshals and cops get the same
But the poor white man's used in the hands of them all like a tool
He's taught in his school
From the start by the rule
That the laws are with him
To protect his white skin
To keep up his hate
So he never thinks straight
'Bout the shape that he's in
But it ain't him to blame
He's only a pawn in their game.

From the poverty shacks, he looks from the cracks to the tracks
And the hoof beats pound in his brain
And he's taught how to walk in a pack
Shoot in the back
With his fist in a clinch
To hang and to lynch
To hide 'neath the hood
To kill with no pain
Like a dog on a chain
He ain't got no name
But it ain't him to blame
He's only a pawn in their game."

Pawn in their Game- B. Dylan

What the pictures speak to you is what I'm curious about. They make me feel sad, knowing that I live in a society where people behave like this. If they had been naked they would have been arrested, but brandishing lethal weapons is OK
Let's get real. Guns have their place and it's not at a political rally or demonstration. Sorry, but that's against the rules of any civilized society.

First I find the responses in your links to be very interesting. The contrast to the responses in this post is very enlightening.

Second is the first picture with all the long guns being held in the manor they are. That may be perceived as brandishing, though I'm not sure. I also note that the guns being carried at the Tea party event are all slung.

Thanks again for the post.

101. Perverse like two guys kissing
baby out of wedlock. Sex before marriage, care to judge a bit more.

Prohibitionists are funny.

105. So its really a morality thing for you
not really rooted in fact, just a reaction to someone else's behavior?

107. I just don't think men should marry or openly love their guns in public.
Edited on Tue Mar-08-11 01:20 AM by Hoyt

I'm fine with whatever one does with their guns in the privacy of their own home. Just don't do it in public.

109. "Guns" really are different from "people." Guns should not be in public, people should.

126. Don't get upset. This is how the Westboro school of gun control operates
If you think guns are evil, and you're on a mission to fight said evil, popularity is of little relevance.

Success is optional, as it is more important to be loudly and publicly on the "right" side of the issue.

The threats of dire consequences and claims of moral superiority go with the territory, and can be ignored as they

are articles of faith.

132. Yes, you did imply something
That you chose to include the word liberal bracketed in quotation marks is an obvious implication. You may, of course, assume any position on the RKBA, but at least have the courage to declare it plainly. Absurd and comical contortions such as "No implications. I made a direct reference to pro-gunners who enjoy such perverse photos." don't enhance your credibility.

gun control advocates are more about pearl clutching and regional bigotry and nothing about safe streets or civilized society, or any of those other lofty goals.
