Lawsuit Won For Woman Arrested For Bringing Gun to Church
Edited on Mon Jan-10-11 04:29 PM by undertakerlives
Gun rights is always a touchy issue, but to me, if you're legally carrying one, I don't see an issue. Police in Wisconsin did apparently.

1. What was the church's policy? Since it was UU, I suspect that it did not approve of guns in church.
Little information is given about the circumstances of the arrest.

Are judges now ruling that gun permits allow the carrying of firearms into churches and other places that do not allow firearms?

2. The church can tell her to get out...
and if she doesn't do so, then the police can be called. But to arrest someone at gunpoint because she was exercising her rights in a place she thinks is legal, is grounds for a suit. This was a civil matter which the police (and the church, for that matter) should have handled better.

4. IIRC, she was held at gunpoint and arrested as she tried to leave the parking lot
simply because someone saw her put her gun in her car and called the police. There was a thread earlier regarding this incident. You may want to find it to verify what I remember.

Glad she won.
