NY teen indicted on hate crime shooting charges
A grand jury has indicted a 16-year-old boy on hate crime charges in the shooting of a black high school classmate inside an upstate New York police station near baseball's Hall of Fame.

Anthony Pacherille now faces charges of attempted murder and attempted assault as hate crimes. He remains hospitalized with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head and is scheduled for arraignment May 7.

Authorities say Pacherille chased 16-year-old Wesley Lippitt from a Cooperstown park on April 2, shot him in the arm with his father's .22-caliber rifle in the police station foyer, then shot himself. Pacherille is white.

Pacherille's lawyer, James Hartmann, says he's waiting for evidence from the prosecution, but he doesn't believe the hate crime charges are valid.

4. Cant say I've proliferated a firearm..
Edited on Sat May-01-10 08:25 AM by Pavulon
I never sell them. You know, dont want to regret selling something I really should have kept later. I did not shoot that kid, which is a crime. So again what exactly should be done to prevent this from happening that does not violate my right to legally own firearms?

This was the responsibility of the person who fired the shot. Not the collective human conscience, maybe it is everyones fault because there is so much negativity in the whole world.

8. You apparently want to take away all the guns...so, given that your chances of ever
accomplishing it are somewhere between zero and none, why do you bother? Is it some kind of mental condition?

11. Much as the following is a consequence of allowing Australians to use the Internet:

Australian to be jailed for luring girl over net

PETER MITCHELL LOS ANGELES
May 2, 2010

An Australian man will be jailed in Canada for using the internet to lure a 14-year-old girl and trying to sexually assault her.

Anthony John Porter, 37, from Woody Point, near Brisbane, told a judge in Newfoundland that he had made ''a massive mistake'' by communicating with the girl in an online teen chat room and travelling to her home town of Corner Brook.

''I apologise to anyone who had the misfortune to be involved with this,'' the Newfoundland paper Western Star reported him as saying....

....He pleaded guilty last week to charges of internet luring and attempted sexual assault, in exchange for the withdrawal of two other sex charges. He will be sentenced on Wednesday.....

Think carefully before using a broad brush, for others may use one as well...

5. So some kid hurt another kid, then tried to off himself
The other kid was hurt in the arm, and the perp kid didn't even manage to wound himself fatally. And? What happened in this incident that couldn't have played out with, say, a knife?

The most remarkable thing, in my book, is that the perp kid managed to not only enter the local cop shop bearing a firearm, but was able to use it against another in the frickin' "foyer." I guess Cooperstown PD don't deal with overt violence all that often.

Two bodies found incinerated in burnt out four-wheel-drive

POLICE investigating an apparent double homicide after two bodies were found incinerated in vehicle in Wattle Grove say it could take days before they can positively identify the victims.
Firefighters made the grisly find in scrub just off the Tonkin Highway, near Welshpool Rd in Wattle Grove, after several 000 emergency calls reported a four-wheel-drive on fire about 5am Saturday morning.
Inside the car, they discovered two charred bodies, their identities indeterminable.
Major Crime detectives have deemed the find ``suspicious''

12. Newspaper reports black victim & white assailant. If the races were reversed they wouldn't have been
given, IMO.

13. This story illustrates a VERY important point.
namely, a criminal bent on murder isn't going to balk at breaking a gun law.

Gotta wonder who those gun laws are really aimed (pun intended) at?

14. Sorry brother, gonna have to disagree with you.
A criminal will ALWAYS be intimidated by a sign which reads GUN FREE ZONE.
