Brady Group Pays $26K Fine
Sara better have another celebration/fund raiser really quick.

But I'm sure, if she were here, that she would thank all of you for donating so they could pay their fines and legal costs. Please feel free to mail them more checks, "for the children" ... and the fines.

I still have to check, but I think the two repugs she was opposing both won too.

But we all know that being visibly pro-gun control and having this repug run organization behind you never really had any effect on any elections, right?

Brady anti-gun group pays $26G FEC fine

THE ASSOCIATED PRESS

http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tm...dy_group_fine_2

WASHINGTON -- A gun-control group has agreed to pay a $26,000 fine for failing to properly disclose spending on mailings opposing two Republican House candidates, the Federal Election Commission said Thursday.

The Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence Voter Education Fund didn't report $111,777 in spending to oppose Kentucky Rep. Ernest Fletcher's election, nor did it report $99,731 in spending against Pennsylvania Rep. Pat Toomey, according to the FEC.

The mailings were sent to voters shortly before the 2000 election. The spending was supposed to be reported by the Brady group's Voter Education Fund to the commission within 24 hours.

The group paid the civil fine last month.

The Brady Campaign is named after Jim Brady, former press secretary to President Reagan. Brady was seriously wounded during a 1981 attempt on Reagan's life.

2. Tip of the iceberg, baby...
I'm surprized it took so long for such a corrupt organization to be caught at something.

3. THIS HAS TO BE A LIE!
There is now way that organization has $26.00 much less $26,000 to pay a fine...anti gunners know their cause is a loser so they don't support gun control groups like this one.

4. Would this be.....
an example of the dishonest and corrupt anti-gun industry?

Freedom haters like the "grabber" faction of the "we hate freedom" camp, where anti-abortion and anti-first amendment assholes like ashkkkroft and lott also reside, are a menace to society. Sane people
don't buy into thier lies, dishonesty and corruption.

And whats this "voter education" fund?

Is that a fund that pays for mailings to "educate" people into thinking that guns are bad?

Would that be like a voter "misinformation" fund?

Or a voter "indoctrination" fund?

The lengths that the dishonest and corrupt anti-gun industry will go to push thier dishonest and corrupt agenda obviously do not include obeying the law of the land.

5. I dont get it.
Maybe i need to read the whole article. Why would they have to report what they spent to a Federal Election Commission? Is it against the law to not report this or something? Can someone lay this out to me in dumbass terms?

8. 26K?
Wonder how many 7-11's their supporters had to rob at handgunpoint for that stack?

I wonder if Sara would be riding a horse if Hinkley used a sedan as his weapon of choice...

11. I know isnt that awful....
how some would attack Clinton and others who supported the AWB sunset, call them scum for supporting it, and line up with those against the sunset like Asscrack, Delay, and Lott

Isn't it awful how some of us would stick up for a Republican electing machine like gun control.

13. Gee town...
Are you still trying to pin the sunset on Clinton?

Guess there's no argument too dishonest, disgraceful or ridiculous for the RKBA crowd.

"those against the sunset like Asscrack, Delay, and Lott"
Those three fucktards are in favor of renewal? Let's see you back THAT ONE up.

14. Interesting but irrelevant
Whether the NRA, or any other organization has a clean record is of no consequence in evaluating any law breaking that the Brady Bunch has engaged in.

I have no idea what the NRA's record in this area is. Surprised nobody has filled us in.

Me iether, but I would think that if there were anything to be heard, the "anti" crowd would be the first to be screaming about it.

19. interesting

http://fecweb1.fec.gov/pages/24_2002_can.html

Lists expenditures that the Brady Campaign did report, along with expenditures reported by various other organizations, in 2002.

What's interesting is how they line up.

Reporting expenditures FOR a candidate that the Brady Campaign opposed:
- the NRA
- an assortment of anti-choice outfits (that's what the Susan B. Anthony List is, for anyone wondering)
- National Taxpayers' Union

Also reporting expenditures AGAINST a candidate that the Brady Campaign opposed:
- Planned Parenthood organizations
- League of Conservation Voters

Ah, those funny bedfellows.

.
