Homeowner With Shotgun Kills Intruder Second Intruder Shot, Wounded
PHOENIX -- A Mesa homeowner used a shotgun to defend himself during a home invasion late Wednesday night, authorities said.

According to Mesa Police Department spokesman Sgt. Ed Wessing, two men armed with guns and demanding money forced their way into the home near Stapley Road and Southern Avenue.

The intruders rounded up the four men who live there and forced them into a room, Wessing said.

"At some point during this crime, one of the residents was able to grab a shotgun," Wessing said. "(He) shot and killed one of them, and then fired at the second suspect (who) was injured but then fled the area."

Police said the second intruder ended up at a nearby hospital, where he is expected to survive.

1. If the gun grabbers had their way...
you would see even more home invasions as the victims would have no way to protect themselves.

I would bet the two guys who busted into the home had some criminal friends who will now realize that home invasion can be hazardous to your health. If they had been considering a home invasion as a way to get money, they may reconsider and go back to breaking into unoccupied houses.

Most criminals fear confronting an armed home owner far more than they fear the police.

3. I was at a gun class with a guy....
He said " I live alone, so there should never be somebody in my house. So if somebody does break into my house it basically becomes a big coffin."

He likes the shotty.

You got to love America.

6. Absolutely not.
Once the other guy was wounded and fleeing, any additional shots would have been considered murderous in intent. Shooting people in the back is never a good idea, no matter how pissed you are.
