We need a list of the "gun free zone" failures.
I carry just about everywhere I go. The store, restaurants, car dealerships, on and on and on. In years and years of carrying I have never had any problem of any kind. I know a LOT of other guys who carry, same thing.
But I don't carry where it is illegal to. Like in schools, courthouses, post offices, airports. That is because I am not a criminal.
In any given environment with lots of people there are a few good guys with guns and a few bad guys with guns and knives. 99% of the time nothing comes of it. Occasionally a bad guy will start hurting people and sometimes a good guy will stop him, it does happen.
But not in places like schools. When people move from the mall to the school all of the good guys disarm themselves, but not the criminals. In Columbine what happened was bad guys ignored the "gun free zone" sign and entered the school filled with unarmed victims. They then casually moved through the school killing people at their leisure until they chose to stop. Virginia Tech was the same outcome. Bad guy ignored the "gun free zone" sign and moved through the school killing people until he decided to stop.
In the attempted mass church shooting, the bad guy stopped when the woman with the concealed gun shot him. He shot people in the parking lot at leisure then entered the church where he was stopped. It was a big church full of people.

Gun free zones cause an environment where the criminals are armed and the average people are disarmed.

Gun free zones do not make people safer. Even if they do make people *feel* safer. "Gun free zones" actually create more victims.

2. Chicago Public Schools
I've lost count how many kids have been shot to death, but the number is shocking and mind-numbing.
Some on school grounds, many going to or coming from, and others near playgrounds, but it truly sucks. And chicago has some pretty tough rules on gun ownership.

3. Doesn't Chicago have
a COMPLETE handgun ban there????? Its working just fine for the law abiding citizens there who FOLLOW the law. I wonder why criminals don't follow the law :sarcasm:

6. exactly.
By the by, after this post, I was heading back from court, and heard a radio report that the catholic priest "of hate" (who was under the microscope for giving a sermon at Obama's old church) is flying the US flag upside down because the 38th school kid died from gun violence.

THIRTY FUCKING EIGHT KIDS!

8. A post-modern secular take on the Mid-Eastern suicide bomber?
Style is a big thing in this country, and may be melding with fame. Mass-style being necessarily conformist, the illusion of everyday occurrence at once portends a decline in "school-yard spectaculars." The passe replaced by something else.

7. DC was as "gun free" as anywhere in the US could get - they had
the strictest anti-gun laws in the US, or nearly so. You were subject to arrest if police found one piece of empty brass in your possesion, yet their violent crime rate was horrible. The laws served to keep guns out of the hands of the law abiding - criminals oddly enough did not bother to obey.
