Iran says U.S. nuclear threats harm global stability
Attempts by Washington to threaten Tehran with possible nuclear strikes undermines global security and brings harm to the global community, an Iranian news agency said citing the country's foreign minister.

Announcing a new U.S. nuclear doctrine earlier this month, President Barack Obama explicitly excluded Iran and North Korea from tighter restrictions on the possible use of U.S. nuclear weapons.

"Such remarks are detrimental to the international community and it does not yield to the realities, unless other countries and we take nuclear disarmament serious and spread it worldwide," the ISNA news agency quoted Manoucher Mottaki as saying.

Mottaki said nuclear weapons have no use except destruction and devastation and cannot be considered as defensive weapons.

"Those have focused their power on nuclear weapons are playing with fire," the Iranian minister said on Tuesday at a meeting with Turkey's newly-appointed ambassador to Tehran.
