10 Greenest cars (CNNMoney.com)
The American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy's 10th annual "Greenest Cars" list includes only vehicles from Asian manufacturers. "When you look at the specs that matter, it's fair to say the imports have Detroit's number," said ACEEE analyst James Kliesch.

By By Peter Valdes-Dapena, CNNMoney.com staff writer

ACEEE's "Green Score" is based on tailpipe emissions as well as pollution created in manufacturing the vehicle. Pollution from manufacturing is estimated based on the vehicle's weight. The average vehicle's "Green Score" is 30.

Disposal of hybrid batteries does not pose an environmental issue, said James Kliesch. Research Associate for ACEEE.

"It's generally agreed that batteres in hybrids are going to last the life of the vehicle," he said

When the vehicle is eventually disposed of, the battery will almost certainly be recycled because of the high value of the nickel it contains, he said.

1. Body by Fischer, brains by Playskool
that explains the US auto industry. CPAs and MBAs making engineering decisions is a recipe for incredible success, no?

2. I like the new Elantra a lot
Outside of the hybrids, it's a better value than Corolla or Civic

4. Yeah, I own one of those
I had really wanted to buy American, and both GM and Ford are making some really good economy cars (although they're too stupid to promote them). I got what I did because of an improvement in cargo room and the fact that AC was standard, not an option.

I wish they'd wake the hell up, too.

6. I've been looking at the Fit
I like the storage space options, and it's a peppy little car. I've test-driven one. Anyone own one and can tell me what they think of it?

8. I have an Accent
Biggest surprise was that for such a small car, it is so comfortable on long drives. A fun car to drive and gets great gas mileage on the road.

10. I have a POS Ford Escapist
from which I would love to escape. Unfortuantely, spousette's career requires just that much space. I'd much rather have something far more efficient.

9. Wow, not a GM, Ford or Dodge in sight
And some here wonder why the American auto industry is suffering.
