http://techon.nikkeibp.co.jp/english/NEWS_EN/20061024/122600/

Yamaha Motor Co., Ltd. has announced the development of "FC-AQEL," a scooter with its proprietary fuel cell. It is a 125 cc comparable scooter with "Yamaha hydrogen fuel cell system." The exhibition of the scooter is planned at "The 22nd International Battery, Hybrid and Fuel Cell Electric Vehicle Symposium & Exposition (EVS22)" being held from October 23-28, 2006 in Yokohama.

The system is composed of a fuel cell with a metal separator, two 35 MPa high-pressure hydrogen tanks, a Li-ion secondary battery, etc. For size reduction of the driving member, an ultraflat brushless DC motor, a compact controller and a planetary transmission are compactly contained in a hub section of a rear wheel, and the hub section is integrally provided with a rear arm. The body measures 1,845 (L) x 770 (W) x 1,100 (H) mm.

1. I wish we could get a fuel cell powered bike race at the Milwaukee
Mile. I can't imagine anything more symbolic within an arrow shot of Harley-Davidson.
