UK Environment Minister Warns "Flat-Earthers" On Climate- Glascow Herald
BRITAIN risks "sleepwalking towards catastrophe" on climate change, the Environment Secretary David Miliband claimed yesterday.
Five months into his job, he told the conference the science was more alarming than he had initially realised and that the dangers were far more immediate than he thought.

Mr Miliband said those who deny the challenge of global warming were "the flat earthers of the 21st century", even though that includes the US administration in Washington. He said the government plans to introduce individual carbon accounts to help people understand the impact of their energy use on the planet.

He also set a target of reducing pollution from the current levels – which are three times the sustainable amount – to become proportionate to Britain's population share. The new push on reducing emissions was focused on individual behaviour. If a million people change three light bulbs to low energy alternatives it would be the equivalent of 70,000 cars off the road.
