Iran Touts Itself As a Nuclear Power
TEHRAN, Iran (AP) -- Iran's hard-line President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad vowed Thursday that Iran won't back away from uranium enrichment and said the world must treat Iran as a nuclear power. the comments were made as Mohamed ElBaradei, head of the International Atomic Energy Agency, arrived in Tehran for talks aimed at defusing tensions over Iran's nuclear program.

"Our answer to those who are angry about Iran achieving the full nuclear fuel cycle is just one phrase. We say: Be angry at us and die of this anger," the official Islamic Republic News Agency quoted Ahmadinejad as saying.

"We won't hold talks with anyone about the right of the Iranian nation (to enrich uranium)."

Ahmadinejad declared on Tuesday that Iran had successfully produced enriched uranium for the first time, a key process in what Iran maintains is a peaceful energy program.

2. I just can't work up any outrage over Iran wanting nukes.
Like Sally7 said, I'd bloody well want nukes too, if I was them. Especially in a world where George Bush and Friends are in charge of the world's largest nuclear stockpile, supporting every Israel policy, and drafting "first-strike" position papers, and playing a PR game that looks astonishingly like the PR games they played running up to the Iraq invasion, to the point of just replacing "Iraq" with "Iran"

And hey, they probably want the nuclear energy capability too.

If the psychos in the White House attack Iran, we may lose an aircraft carrier out of the deal. They're well armed, and they aren't fucking around.

4. same here
I too am struggling to get angry over this.

I think it is more an issue of power. Iran wants to be a respected nuclear power and I do not think that they are stupid to do anything with it. I hope.

Of course, it will still be years until they can even manufacture a weapon.

3. I bet Bin Laden wants nuclear material as well
and I doubt if his intention would be to have it as a deterant.

5. You know, I think that Iran is saying "you can't start a war to keep
us from going nuclear, because we've already done it."

They are calling Bushco's bluff.

Problem is, * is too stupid to bluff. He really is going to do it. It was decided years ago.
