1. Professor! Question!
Do you know if BP is practicing placing a LMRP on a mockup of the gusher? This would seem to be the prudent thing to do.

2. if they are...
...they're sure not telling anyone about it. :(

But yes, I imagine they are, and modeling it to death as well.

(no pun intended... :( )

3. hey profgoose!
can I just take this chance to say thanks and that I have become totally addicted the last few days to the discussions over there? Planning to kick a donation in a few days after the other bills get paid.

I am on really slow dial up but still trying to stream some of the video from bp's site, and was getting so much good info from the threads on your site. It has gotten a little bogged down with some of those "helpful" suggestions from all of the newbies, but good that they are TRYING and thinking about things, I guess.

I don't think my connection could handle the stream and the faster live chat you have going - it can't really handle the video but I wonder if you know where I could pick up more "running commentary" for my shitty connection?

5. thanks...and...
Thank you for those kind words, Kali. We're tryin'.

There's web interfaces with IRC that you could try...You can get to IRC via a browser at

http://webchat.freenode.net/ Just enter your nickname and #theoildrum in the boxes.

honestly, the IRC client will probably work for you--IRC is really "light weight" and not graphics intensive--all text.

Try mIRC or even Chatzilla if you are using Firefox. It's REALLY easy once you get the basic commands, etc.

Cheers Kali-(Ma)! :)
