4. Seriously, do check in with area dealers
It looks like the earlier bottlenecks have eased somewhat. According to an article in today's Auto section, Prius waits have dropped to a couple of months in many locations across the States.

Guess all that triple-shifting in Nagoya is finally paying off!

8. I'm looking forward to seeing what kind of market penetration they can get
So far, they've been limited only by their capacity to produce them, it will be interesting to see where the equilibrium eventually gets established.

9. I honestly wish they'd done that triple shifting about
1 month ago. As it is, I went with the other one and I'm happy anyway.

6. Still a 4-month wait in our area, but I think we'll be ordering one
for DH anyway. They are very nice cars!

7. They are discounting them 8% from MSRP in my state
I thougth they were hard to find but they are not

I checked on the internet to get the invoice price, went to our dealer and at first the Salesman told me they were only discounting $500 from MSRP. I started walking and he said what would the deal take.

I said no more than $250 over internet invoice amount and he said they could do that if I was serious and said they had a large selection to chose from in the lot and coming in. That would be about $2,100 less than what he first wanted!

Is there a lot of hype on these so people expect to have to pay MSRP on them?

12. Nope

In places like Seattle, there is a 4 month waiting list. So, no bargaining power.

on edit: My boyfriend just got his after the 4 month wait.

10. Two available here in Gainesville, Georgia
Edited on Fri May-27-05 03:35 PM by Lumily
My dealership has two available right now.

We only had to wait seven days for ours. In the past week, I've seen four in my area. That's quite shocking since everybody here seems to drive a Yukon, Tahoe, or Suburban.:(

11. I asked about them yesterday
They said there was a 6 month wait here in Central Iowa. The salesman went on and on about how good of car they are. I just said I was curious about it and wasn't in the market for one. Maybe in a year or so I will be.
