anti-nukes to ban oil.

(I, by contrast, call for the immediate phase out of all dangerous fossil fuels.)

They still can wax on endlessly about the accident at Three Mile Island that took place more than 3 decades ago however, even though the costs of the only accident they have ever heard of were trivial compared to the environmental and human damage associated with stuff to which they pay no attention.

I mean, when was the last time you heard an anti-nuke complain about the Banqiao dam, the so called "renewable energy" accident that killed more than 200,000 people in a single night's disaster?

1. Well...
...the planet can survive 1,000 gallons per hour of earthly oil spewing.
But just imagine if it were 1,000 gph of nuke waste flowing.

3. Cheap shot "anti-nuke" slurs?
You want to see cheap shot slurs?

Try posting something favoring nuclear energy.

Try posting something NOT BASHING nuclear energy.

If I recall, you've made a few cheap shot slurs yourself. Well, a few can be overlooked, and very few of us are truly blameless. The problem isn't a few wisecracks. It's the campaign of demonization. A 35-year reign of peer pressure. Anyone who supports nuclear energy gets it day after day, including constant blame by conspiracy theorists who claim you're secretly working for a sinister cabal out to destroy the world.

And ALWAYS: "Who's paying your salary? Nyah nyah!"

One of the stalwart antis has posted that NNadir is, (gasp!), obese. (Maybe, but he seems to do a lot of bicycle touring for an obese man.) There was even one occasion where I saw NNadir's wife's ethnicity was rudely commented upon. I guess he just got tired of all the bullshit masquerading as "progressive" debate.

I know I have. But NNadir has more guts in his big toe than I have altogether.

By the way, what does "Sounds incredibly (R)" mean?

4. It means like a (R)epublican.

They like to reduce those with apposing views to soundbite names. It's meant to dehumanize the opponent instead of debate them. And the slur has been used repeatedly here by multiple people. I won't argue. Indeed we all get over emotional and I have been guilty of that (though not the ones in your post). But maybe we can stop using the slur too? Because it is a slur.

7. You confuse name calling or slur with saying that tactic is what republicans do
One is actually an attack where the other is attacking the approach. But I don't expect you to get that as you are entirely into personal territory in many of your posts. As you said yourself you have lost your composure and objectivity and have little patience in discussing the matter. Well, don't blame that on others. Take responsability for yourself. You are using excuses because we only got into it one time about Chernobyl, but you want to continue to use that as an excuse to attack. We don't have the "history" you are trying to proclaim.

I won't continue this discussion.

9. I'd love to see fossil fuels banned.
Unfortunately, we've dug ourselves too deep a hole for that to be realistic in the short-term.

Thank God no one's suggesting we make that kind of insane commitment to something even more dangerous like nuclear power. That would be truly fucked up.
