Apple's iPad and Other Devices May Soon Be Powered by the Sun
Nice little added tidbit to the massive day Mac has had:

While the media and consumers are clamouring about the Apple iPad and how quickly you can get your hands on one, it appears Mac may have a major cleantech announcement coming in the near future.

It seems as though Steve Jobs and company are trying to develop solar chargers for mobile devices such as the iPod, iBook, iPhone, and the brand new iPad. Recently, Apple submitted a patent application for a new system to control solar cells on a portable device.

1. They indicated in the presentation that they have taken a lot of steps to
make this device environmentally more friendly. Solar would be great!

2. Star Trek got "The Borg" so wrong.
Who knew they'd be wearing umbrella shaped solar hats to power all their various gadgets?

3. I understand next they will be inventing a device
to allow you to enter data into computers.

Already a few of those around. Unless it charges in a very short time.

4. Solar chargers have been around for awhile, the problem is energy density.
To charge a device in a reasonable time, the solar panel has to be relatively large, much larger than the device itself.

5. The SUN?! What is it?
It's a large, fiery ball of gas located at the center of our solar system. But that's not important right now.

8. Wow. That should make them even better when they end up in open vats of nitric acid
in China to be "recycled."
